Disclaimer

Information here-in assumes you want the most of this mod and so you have enabled certain optional features such as the firepit replacement (replaceFirepitTFC). Pottery kiln still accepts freshly felled logs, but you insist on using seasoned firewood. The use of trapping pit is encouraged for hunting. The use of clay crucible is encouraged over smelting ores in a pottery kiln.

Your world

If you don't mind trying a few seeds, some will be more suitable depending on what you want to do.

  • If you plan to hang in the stone age find a stone type that you can quarry without metal tools to settle in.

First things

Priorities are somewhat changed compared to TFC.

  • Your first day would be well spent finding a suitable starting base. A cave or thatch roof lean-to.
  • Gather some logs, make firewood and allow it season in a woodpile at your base. It will be used to make pottery later.
  • If you see Birch, Willow, White Cedar or White Elm, gather some logs and season them in a woodpile too.
  • Peel the bark once the logs are seasoned for a much better yield. It will be used for crafting later.
  • Hunting using traps is possible, if you have the poles, sticks, straw and patience. Having some bait helps.
  • For cooking food, new firepit accepts seasoned firewood or sticks as fuel.
  • For drying meat, you can construct a drying rack, if you have poles and sinew.

Pernament base

You can build a proper house before making metal tools, from materials besides wattle-and-doub.

  • Log cabin can be built from seasoned logs. It takes some time for logs to season and many logs will be required so start with a smaller one.
  • Rough Stone buildings can be build from quarried stone, but it takes even more time and resources.
