Agenda

  • Review Accenture's Universal Wallet Reference Architecture to see how we might use it for the OWF

Discussion

  • Tracy reviewed Accenture's Universal Wallet Reference Architecture High-level Overview
    • Principles: Multi-Purpose
      • Keith questioned whether these principles should comment on the certification processes for the underlying modules to ensure that they are ready for any standards certification that is required (say by mDL or EUDI).
      • We do not mention anything about certification processes, but we could add something around this topic.
      • A question came up by what we mean by certification. OWF has not yet defined any type of certification, but it has been discussed in the past.
    • Principles: Privacy
      • In general, there is concern that the principle is too far reaching as they are covering more than just the wallet layer. In general, the SIG members thought that it would make more sense to use the following for Privacy principles:
        • We should not introduce any new tracking and correlation at the wallet layer above what's already included in the technologies that we use both protocols and data formats like credentials. We don't, basically, make it worse, and if possible, we should attempt to adjust the way the protocol is used to limit tracking and correlation.
        • Surface appropriately the privacy disclosures being made by the protocols, the data formats, and credential types, etc, that we are using.
    • Principles: Interoperable
      • For #3, the language "from any interface they choose" should be reworded as this may leave open that every wallet has to implement everything.
      • The correct abstraction layers are going to be important
    • Principles: Portable, Principles: Equitable Access, Principles: Open
      • Covered these fairly quickly. Please do provide any thoughts or feedback on these directly to Tracy
    • Logical Architecture
      • A question about where Key Management fits in was asked. Currently we have that as a L3 capability under Secure Storage, Custody Management.
