  • My server is accessible only from inside my home network.
  • When I take pictures outside the network, Instant Upload attempts at uploading but fails, as expected.
  • At the end of the day when I get back home, I expect the pictures to finally be uploaded, but they don't.

@leonl42 thanks for reporting this.

We´d need more information:

  • First of all you say that your server is accessible only from inside your home network. Does the app show you any alert message when you are outside?
  • Is there any other action that does not work besides Instant Upload? I mean, outside your network, is it possible to download a file?
  • On the other hand, about the automatic upload. This is still not implemented, although it is included on the product backlog and will come in future versions

  • Besides the "fail to upload" errors, I sometimes get the "Failed to sync" message.
  • No, I can only see the list of files as they were at the last sync.
  • Glad to know it is on its way. When uploading a couple of pictures, it is annoying to be bombarded with "failed to upload" message. A single notification message on which clicking would lead to a list of files pending upload would seem more efficient.

Here's a naive suggestion for the "pending upload" files. Why not showing them in the Android ownCloud app in the folder where they will be uploaded with some color code on their icons? Tapping them would allow cancelling or retrying the upload.

@leonl42, we are exploring different options for the recovery of failed uploads, including something similar to your proposal.

There are multiple issues opened related with this. Probably the one most interesting for you will be #64 . Please, follow future updates there, or in the other issues related to uploads that you can find through the label 'uploads'.
