The v1.17.2-rc1 is now out, and we would sincerely appreciate your help in testing. This assignment is applicable to both mainnet and calibration instances.

General assignment:

Upgrade your nodes to v1.17.2-rc1 and confirm that:

New features assignment:

PropagationDelay:
With the Lotus v1.17.2-rc1 the default PropagationDelay for incoming blocks is raised from 6 seconds to 10 seconds. We have also added the ability to set the PropagationDelay yourself with the PROPAGATION_DELAY_SECS environment variable to fine tune it to your setup. You can read why the PropagationDelay has been raised here.

If you can see that the default "baseDeltaSeconds": in your lotus-miner logs has changed to 10 seconds.

After checking that the new default PropagationDealy functions properly, export a custom PROPAGATION_DELAY_SECS=seconds environment variable (this needs to be set on the lotus-miner) and restart the lotus-miner. Be aware that raising this setting too high can put you in a position where you might be too slow to compute a block, so please keep that in mind. 🧠

If you can see that the "baseDeltaSeconds": value has changed to your desired setting.

renew --only-cc:
There is now an option to only renew CC-sectors when using the lotus-miner sectors renew command. To test that this only renews CC-sectors, try the command on a —-from and —-to epoch interval that also includes deal sectors.

Check lotus-miner sectors check-expire to find an applicable interval, and try the command. Try without the —-really-do-it flag first to confirm that it does not include any non CC-sectors.

If the command properly exludes non CC-sectors when using the --only-cc option.

Hmm, I just turned on the lotus-miner to capture the basedeltaseconds. Did not attach any workers or start any jobs. Did a lotus-miner stop, but it did not shut down correctly. Logs just gave me this:

So I had to kill the lotus-miner process.. A bit annoying when the gracefull shutdown does not complete.

@rjan90 started the lotus-miner process with export PROPAGATION_DELAY_SECS=8 set. That did not change the "baseDeltaSeconds": value
Does it need to be export PROPAGATION_DELAY_SECS=8s or maybe export PROPAGATION_DELAY_SECS="8s"?

So this shouldn’t need to be set before building, just before starting (same as other env vars). We found the issue, and fixed it with this PR: #9358! It will be backported to the v1.17.2-rc2! Thanks for reporting it 😄
