Thermal sensor used to need two calibration points which are in fuse map to get a slope for converting thermal sensor's raw data to real temperature in degree C. Due to the chip calibration limitation, hardware team provides an universal formula to get real temperature from internal thermal sensor raw data: Slope = 0.4297157 - (0.0015976 * 25C fuse); Update the formula, as there will be no hot point calibration data in fuse map from now on. Currently stream numbers are assigned in reverse order. Unfortunately commit 7546abf ("ALSA: hda - Increment default stream numbers for AMD HDMI controllers") assumed this was not the case (specifically, it had the "old cards had single device only" => "extra unused stream numbers do not matter" assumption), causing non-working audio regressions for AMD Radeon HDMI users. Change the stream numbers to be assigned in forward order. The benefit is that regular audio playback will still work even if the assumed stream count is too high, downside is that a too high stream count may remain hidden. From user space, there is no way to know the target residency for each idle state. If we want to write tools to measure the accuracy of the idle state selection from the governor, we need this info. As the exit latency is exported through sysfs, exporting the target residency in the same place makes sense. Signed-off-by: Daniel Lezcano <daniel.lezcano@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Rafael J. Commit 8fc1b0f ("ARM: qcom: Split Qualcomm support into legacy and multiplatform") removed Kconfig symbol ARCH_MSM_DT. But that commit left one (optional) dependency on ARCH_MSM_DT untouched. Three Kconfig symbols used to depend on ARCH_MSM_DT: ARCH_MSM8X60, ARCH_MSM8960, and ARCH_MSM8974. These three symbols now depend on ARCH_QCOM. So it appears this driver needs to depend on ARCH_QCOM too. Commit 8146875 (arm, kvm: Fix CPU hotplug callback registration) holds the lock before calling the two functions: kvm_vgic_hyp_init() kvm_timer_hyp_init() and both the two functions are calling register_cpu_notifier() to register cpu notifier, so cause double lock on cpu_add_remove_lock. Considered that both two functions are only called inside kvm_arch_init() with holding cpu_add_remove_lock, so simply use __register_cpu_notifier() to fix the problem. The BCP bit in TCR4/RCR4 register rules as followings: 0 Bit clock is active high with drive outputs on rising edge and sample inputs on falling edge. 1 Bit clock is active low with drive outputs on falling edge and sample inputs on rising edge. For all formats currently supported in the fsl_sai driver, they're exactly sending data on the falling edge and sampling on the rising edge. However, the driver clears this BCP bit for all of them which results click noise when working with SGTL5000 and big noise with WM8962. Thus this patch corrects the BCP settings for all the formats here to fix the nosie issue. I'm transitioning maintainership of the xHCI driver to my colleague, Mathias Nyman. The xHCI driver is in good shape, and it's time for me to move on to the next shiny thing. :) There's a few known outstanding bugs that we have plans for how to fix: 1. Clear Halt issue that means some USB scanners fail after one scan 2. TD fragment issue that means USB ethernet scatter-gather doesn't work 3. xHCI command queue issues that cause the driver to die when a USB device doesn't respond to a Set Address control transfer when another command is outstanding. 4. USB port power off for Haswell-ULT is a complete disaster. Mathias is putting the finishing touches on a fix for #3, which will make it much easier to craft a solution for #1. Dan William has an ACKed RFC for #4 that may land in 3.16, after much testing. I'm working with Mathias to come up with an architectural solution for #2. I don't foresee very many big features coming down the pipe for USB (which is part of the reason it's a good time to change now). SSIC is mostly a hardware-level change (perhaps with some PHY drivers needed), USB 3.1 is again mostly a hardware-level change with some software engineering to communicate the speed increase to the device drivers, add new device descriptor parsing to lsusb, but definitely nothing as big as USB 3.0 was. The scenario here is that someone calls enable_irq_wake() from somewhere in the code. This will result in the lockdep producing a backtrace as can be seen below. In my case, this problem is triggered when using the wl1271 (TI WlCore) driver found in drivers/net/wireless/ti/ . The problem cause is rather obvious from the backtrace, but let's outline the dependency. enable_irq_wake() grabs the IRQ buslock in irq_set_irq_wake(), which in turns calls mxs_gpio_set_wake_irq() . But mxs_gpio_set_wake_irq() calls enable_irq_wake() again on the one-level-higher IRQ , thus it tries to grab the IRQ buslock again in irq_set_irq_wake() . Because the spinlock in irq_set_irq_wake()->irq_get_desc_buslock()->__irq_get_desc_lock() is not marked as recursive, lockdep will spew the stuff below. We know we can safely re-enter the lock, so use IRQ_GC_INIT_NESTED_LOCK to fix the spew. ============================================= [ INFO: possible recursive locking detected ] 3.10.33-00012-gf06b763-dirty torvalds#61 Not tainted --------------------------------------------- kworker/0:1/18 is trying to acquire lock: (&irq_desc_lock_class){-.-...}, at: [<c00685f0>] __irq_get_desc_lock+0x48/0x88 but task is already holding lock: (&irq_desc_lock_class){-.-...}, at: [<c00685f0>] __irq_get_desc_lock+0x48/0x88 other info that might help us debug this: Possible unsafe locking scenario: CPU0 ---- lock(&irq_desc_lock_class); lock(&irq_desc_lock_class); *** DEADLOCK *** May be due to missing lock nesting notation 3 locks held by kworker/0:1/18: #0: (events){.+.+.+}, at: [<c0036308>] process_one_work+0x134/0x4a4 #1: ((&fw_work->work)){+.+.+.}, at: [<c0036308>] process_one_work+0x134/0x4a4 #2: (&irq_desc_lock_class){-.-...}, at: [<c00685f0>] __irq_get_desc_lock+0x48/0x88 stack backtrace: CPU: 0 PID: 18 Comm: kworker/0:1 Not tainted 3.10.33-00012-gf06b763-dirty torvalds#61 Workqueue: events request_firmware_work_func [<c0013eb4>] (unwind_backtrace+0x0/0xf0) from [<c0011c74>] (show_stack+0x10/0x14) [<c0011c74>] (show_stack+0x10/0x14) from [<c005bb08>] (__lock_acquire+0x140c/0x1a64) [<c005bb08>] (__lock_acquire+0x140c/0x1a64) from [<c005c6a8>] (lock_acquire+0x9c/0x104) [<c005c6a8>] (lock_acquire+0x9c/0x104) from [<c051d5a4>] (_raw_spin_lock_irqsave+0x44/0x58) [<c051d5a4>] (_raw_spin_lock_irqsave+0x44/0x58) from [<c00685f0>] (__irq_get_desc_lock+0x48/0x88) [<c00685f0>] (__irq_get_desc_lock+0x48/0x88) from [<c0068e78>] (irq_set_irq_wake+0x20/0xf4) [<c0068e78>] (irq_set_irq_wake+0x20/0xf4) from [<c027260c>] (mxs_gpio_set_wake_irq+0x1c/0x24) [<c027260c>] (mxs_gpio_set_wake_irq+0x1c/0x24) from [<c0068cf4>] (set_irq_wake_real+0x30/0x44) [<c0068cf4>] (set_irq_wake_real+0x30/0x44) from [<c0068ee4>] (irq_set_irq_wake+0x8c/0xf4) [<c0068ee4>] (irq_set_irq_wake+0x8c/0xf4) from [<c0310748>] (wlcore_nvs_cb+0x10c/0x97c) [<c0310748>] (wlcore_nvs_cb+0x10c/0x97c) from [<c02be5e8>] (request_firmware_work_func+0x38/0x58) [<c02be5e8>] (request_firmware_work_func+0x38/0x58) from [<c0036394>] (process_one_work+0x1c0/0x4a4) [<c0036394>] (process_one_work+0x1c0/0x4a4) from [<c0036a4c>] (worker_thread+0x138/0x394) [<c0036a4c>] (worker_thread+0x138/0x394) from [<c003cb74>] (kthread+0xa4/0xb0) [<c003cb74>] (kthread+0xa4/0xb0) from [<c000ee00>] (ret_from_fork+0x14/0x34) wlcore: loaded Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Marek Vasut <marex@denx.de> Acked-by: Shawn Guo <shawn.guo@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>

There are two problematic situations. A deadlock can happen when is_percpu is false because it can get interrupted while holding the spinlock. Then it executes ovs_flow_stats_update() in softirq context which tries to get the same lock. The second sitation is that when is_percpu is true, the code correctly disables BH but only for the local CPU, so the following can happen when locking the remote CPU without disabling BH: CPU#0 CPU#1 ovs_flow_stats_get() stats_read() +->spin_lock remote CPU#1 ovs_flow_stats_get() | <interrupted> stats_read() | ... +--> spin_lock remote CPU#0 | | <interrupted> | ovs_flow_stats_update() | ... | spin_lock local CPU#0 <--+ ovs_flow_stats_update() +---------------------------------- spin_lock local CPU#1 This patch disables BH for both cases fixing the deadlocks. addrconf_join_solict and addrconf_join_anycast may cause actions which need rtnl locked, especially on first address creation. A new DAD state is introduced which defers processing of the initial DAD processing into a workqueue. To get rtnl lock we need to push the code paths which depend on those calls up to workqueues, specifically addrconf_verify and the DAD processing. (v2) addrconf_dad_failure needs to be queued up to the workqueue, too. This patch introduces a new DAD state and stop the DAD processing in the workqueue (this is because of the possible ipv6_del_addr processing which removes the solicited multicast address from the device). addrconf_verify_lock is removed, too. After the transition it is not needed any more. As we are not processing in bottom half anymore we need to be a bit more careful about disabling bottom half out when we lock spin_locks which are also used in bh. This patch replaces/reworks the kernel-internal BPF interpreter with an optimized BPF instruction set format that is modelled closer to mimic native instruction sets and is designed to be JITed with one to one mapping. Thus, the new interpreter is noticeably faster than the current implementation of sk_run_filter(); mainly for two reasons: 1. Fall-through jumps: BPF jump instructions are forced to go either 'true' or 'false' branch which causes branch-miss penalty. The new BPF jump instructions have only one branch and fall-through otherwise, which fits the CPU branch predictor logic better. `perf stat` shows drastic difference for branch-misses between the old and new code. 2. Jump-threaded implementation of interpreter vs switch statement: Instead of single table-jump at the top of 'switch' statement, gcc will now generate multiple table-jump instructions, which helps CPU branch predictor logic. Note that the verification of filters is still being done through sk_chk_filter() in classical BPF format, so filters from user- or kernel space are verified in the same way as we do now, and same restrictions/constraints hold as well. We reuse current BPF JIT compilers in a way that this upgrade would even be fine as is, but nevertheless allows for a successive upgrade of BPF JIT compilers to the new format. The internal instruction set migration is being done after the probing for JIT compilation, so in case JIT compilers are able to create a native opcode image, we're going to use that, and in all other cases we're doing a follow-up migration of the BPF program's instruction set, so that it can be transparently run in the new interpreter. In short, the *internal* format extends BPF in the following way (more details can be taken from the appended documentation): - Number of registers increase from 2 to 10 - Register width increases from 32-bit to 64-bit - Conditional jt/jf targets replaced with jt/fall-through - Adds signed > and >= insns - 16 4-byte stack slots for register spill-fill replaced with up to 512 bytes of multi-use stack space - Introduction of bpf_call insn and register passing convention for zero overhead calls from/to other kernel functions - Adds arithmetic right shift and endianness conversion insns - Adds atomic_add insn - Old tax/txa insns are replaced with 'mov dst,src' insn Performance of two BPF filters generated by libpcap resp. bpf_asm was measured on x86_64, i386 and arm32 (other libpcap programs have similar performance differences): fprog #1 is taken from Documentation/networking/filter.txt: tcpdump -i eth0 port 22 -dd fprog #2 is taken from 'man tcpdump': tcpdump -i eth0 'tcp port 22 and (((ip[2:2] - ((ip[0]&0xf)<<2)) - ((tcp[12]&0xf0)>>2)) != 0)' -dd Raw performance data from BPF micro-benchmark: SK_RUN_FILTER on the same SKB (cache-hit) or 10k SKBs (cache-miss); time in ns per call, smaller is better: --x86_64-- fprog #1 fprog #1 fprog #2 fprog #2 cache-hit cache-miss cache-hit cache-miss old BPF 90 101 192 202 new BPF 31 71 47 97 old BPF jit 12 34 17 44 new BPF jit TBD --i386-- fprog #1 fprog #1 fprog #2 fprog #2 cache-hit cache-miss cache-hit cache-miss old BPF 107 136 227 252 new BPF 40 119 69 172 --arm32-- fprog #1 fprog #1 fprog #2 fprog #2 cache-hit cache-miss cache-hit cache-miss old BPF 202 300 475 540 new BPF 180 270 330 470 old BPF jit 26 182 37 202 new BPF jit TBD Thus, without changing any userland BPF filters, applications on top of AF_PACKET (or other families) such as libpcap/tcpdump, cls_bpf classifier, netfilter's xt_bpf, team driver's load-balancing mode, and many more will have better interpreter filtering performance. While we are replacing the internal BPF interpreter, we also need to convert seccomp BPF in the same step to make use of the new internal structure since it makes use of lower-level API details without being further decoupled through higher-level calls like sk_unattached_filter_{create,destroy}(), for example. Just as for normal socket filtering, also seccomp BPF experiences a time-to-verdict speedup: 05-sim-long_jumps.c of libseccomp was used as micro-benchmark: seccomp_rule_add_exact(ctx,... seccomp_rule_add_exact(ctx,... rc = seccomp_load(ctx); for (i = 0; i < 10000000; i++) syscall(199, 100); 'short filter' has 2 rules 'large filter' has 200 rules 'short filter' performance is slightly better on x86_64/i386/arm32 'large filter' is much faster on x86_64 and i386 and shows no difference on arm32 --x86_64-- short filter old BPF: 2.7 sec 39.12% bench libc-2.15.so [.] syscall 8.10% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] sk_run_filter 6.31% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] system_call 5.59% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] trace_hardirqs_on_caller 4.37% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] trace_hardirqs_off_caller 3.70% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] __secure_computing 3.67% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] lock_is_held 3.03% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] seccomp_bpf_load new BPF: 2.58 sec 42.05% bench libc-2.15.so [.] syscall 6.91% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] system_call 6.25% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] trace_hardirqs_on_caller 6.07% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] __secure_computing 5.08% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] sk_run_filter_int_seccomp --arm32-- short filter old BPF: 4.0 sec 39.92% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] vector_swi 16.60% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] sk_run_filter 14.66% bench libc-2.17.so [.] syscall 5.42% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] seccomp_bpf_load 5.10% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] __secure_computing new BPF: 3.7 sec 35.93% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] vector_swi 21.89% bench libc-2.17.so [.] syscall 13.45% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] sk_run_filter_int_seccomp 6.25% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] __secure_computing 3.96% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] syscall_trace_exit --x86_64-- large filter old BPF: 8.6 seconds 73.38% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] sk_run_filter 10.70% bench libc-2.15.so [.] syscall 5.09% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] seccomp_bpf_load 1.97% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] system_call new BPF: 5.7 seconds 66.20% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] sk_run_filter_int_seccomp 16.75% bench libc-2.15.so [.] syscall 3.31% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] system_call 2.88% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] __secure_computing --i386-- large filter old BPF: 5.4 sec new BPF: 3.8 sec --arm32-- large filter old BPF: 13.5 sec 73.88% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] sk_run_filter 10.29% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] vector_swi 6.46% bench libc-2.17.so [.] syscall 2.94% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] seccomp_bpf_load 1.19% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] __secure_computing 0.87% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] sys_getuid new BPF: 13.5 sec 76.08% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] sk_run_filter_int_seccomp 10.98% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] vector_swi 5.87% bench libc-2.17.so [.] syscall 1.77% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] __secure_computing 0.93% bench [kernel.kallsyms] [k] sys_getuid BPF filters generated by seccomp are very branchy, so the new internal BPF performance is better than the old one. If the vxlan interface is created without explicit group definition, there are corner cases which may cause kernel panic. For instance, in the following scenario: node A: $ ip link add dev vxlan42 address 2c:c2:60:00:10:20 type vxlan id 42 $ ip addr add dev vxlan42 10.0.0.1/24 $ ip link set up dev vxlan42 $ arp -i vxlan42 -s 10.0.0.2 2c:c2:60:00:01:02 $ bridge fdb add dev vxlan42 to 2c:c2:60:00:01:02 dst <IPv4 address> $ ping 10.0.0.2 node B: $ ip link add dev vxlan42 address 2c:c2:60:00:01:02 type vxlan id 42 $ ip addr add dev vxlan42 10.0.0.2/24 $ ip link set up dev vxlan42 $ arp -i vxlan42 -s 10.0.0.1 2c:c2:60:00:10:20 node B crashes: vxlan42: 2c:c2:60:00:10:20 migrated from 4011:eca4:c0a8:6466:c0a8:6415:8e09:2118 to (invalid address) vxlan42: 2c:c2:60:00:10:20 migrated from 4011:eca4:c0a8:6466:c0a8:6415:8e09:2118 to (invalid address) BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0000000000000046 IP: [<ffffffff8143c459>] ip6_route_output+0x58/0x82 PGD 7bd89067 PUD 7bd4e067 PMD 0 Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP Modules linked in: CPU: 1 PID: 0 Comm: swapper/1 Not tainted 3.14.0-rc8-hvx-xen-00019-g97a5221-dirty torvalds#154 Hardware name: Bochs Bochs, BIOS Bochs 01/01/2011 task: ffff88007c774f50 ti: ffff88007c79c000 task.ti: ffff88007c79c000 RIP: 0010:[<ffffffff8143c459>] [<ffffffff8143c459>] ip6_route_output+0x58/0x82 RSP: 0018:ffff88007fd03668 EFLAGS: 00010282 RAX: 0000000000000000 RBX: ffffffff8186a000 RCX: 0000000000000040 RDX: 0000000000000000 RSI: ffff88007b0e4a80 RDI: ffff88007fd03754 RBP: ffff88007fd03688 R08: ffff88007b0e4a80 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 0200000a0100000a R11: 0001002200000000 R12: ffff88007fd03740 R13: ffff88007b0e4a80 R14: ffff88007b0e4a80 R15: ffff88007bba0c50 FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff88007fd00000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 000000008005003b CR2: 0000000000000046 CR3: 000000007bb60000 CR4: 00000000000006e0 Stack: 0000000000000000 ffff88007fd037a0 ffffffff8186a000 ffff88007fd03740 ffff88007fd036c8 ffffffff814320bb 0000000000006e49 ffff88007b8b7360 ffff88007bdbf200 ffff88007bcbc000 ffff88007b8b7000 ffff88007b8b7360 Call Trace: <IRQ> [<ffffffff814320bb>] ip6_dst_lookup_tail+0x2d/0xa4 [<ffffffff814322a5>] ip6_dst_lookup+0x10/0x12 [<ffffffff81323b4e>] vxlan_xmit_one+0x32a/0x68c [<ffffffff814a325a>] ? _raw_spin_unlock_irqrestore+0x12/0x14 [<ffffffff8104c551>] ? lock_timer_base.isra.23+0x26/0x4b [<ffffffff8132451a>] vxlan_xmit+0x66a/0x6a8 [<ffffffff8141a365>] ? ipt_do_table+0x35f/0x37e [<ffffffff81204ba2>] ? selinux_ip_postroute+0x41/0x26e [<ffffffff8139d0c1>] dev_hard_start_xmit+0x2ce/0x3ce [<ffffffff8139d491>] __dev_queue_xmit+0x2d0/0x392 [<ffffffff813b380f>] ? eth_header+0x28/0xb5 [<ffffffff8139d569>] dev_queue_xmit+0xb/0xd [<ffffffff813a5aa6>] neigh_resolve_output+0x134/0x152 [<ffffffff813db741>] ip_finish_output2+0x236/0x299 [<ffffffff813dc074>] ip_finish_output+0x98/0x9d [<ffffffff813dc749>] ip_output+0x62/0x67 [<ffffffff813da9f2>] dst_output+0xf/0x11 [<ffffffff813dc11c>] ip_local_out+0x1b/0x1f [<ffffffff813dcf1b>] ip_send_skb+0x11/0x37 [<ffffffff813dcf70>] ip_push_pending_frames+0x2f/0x33 [<ffffffff813ff732>] icmp_push_reply+0x106/0x115 [<ffffffff813ff9e4>] icmp_reply+0x142/0x164 [<ffffffff813ffb3b>] icmp_echo.part.16+0x46/0x48 [<ffffffff813c1d30>] ? nf_iterate+0x43/0x80 [<ffffffff813d8037>] ? xfrm4_policy_check.constprop.11+0x52/0x52 [<ffffffff813ffb62>] icmp_echo+0x25/0x27 [<ffffffff814005f7>] icmp_rcv+0x1d2/0x20a [<ffffffff813d8037>] ? xfrm4_policy_check.constprop.11+0x52/0x52 [<ffffffff813d810d>] ip_local_deliver_finish+0xd6/0x14f [<ffffffff813d8037>] ? xfrm4_policy_check.constprop.11+0x52/0x52 [<ffffffff813d7fde>] NF_HOOK.constprop.10+0x4c/0x53 [<ffffffff813d82bf>] ip_local_deliver+0x4a/0x4f [<ffffffff813d7f7b>] ip_rcv_finish+0x253/0x26a [<ffffffff813d7d28>] ? inet_add_protocol+0x3e/0x3e [<ffffffff813d7fde>] NF_HOOK.constprop.10+0x4c/0x53 [<ffffffff813d856a>] ip_rcv+0x2a6/0x2ec [<ffffffff8139a9a0>] __netif_receive_skb_core+0x43e/0x478 [<ffffffff812a346f>] ? virtqueue_poll+0x16/0x27 [<ffffffff8139aa2f>] __netif_receive_skb+0x55/0x5a [<ffffffff8139aaaa>] process_backlog+0x76/0x12f [<ffffffff8139add8>] net_rx_action+0xa2/0x1ab [<ffffffff81047847>] __do_softirq+0xca/0x1d1 [<ffffffff81047ace>] irq_exit+0x3e/0x85 [<ffffffff8100b98b>] do_IRQ+0xa9/0xc4 [<ffffffff814a37ad>] common_interrupt+0x6d/0x6d <EOI> [<ffffffff810378db>] ? native_safe_halt+0x6/0x8 [<ffffffff810110c7>] default_idle+0x9/0xd [<ffffffff81011694>] arch_cpu_idle+0x13/0x1c [<ffffffff8107480d>] cpu_startup_entry+0xbc/0x137 [<ffffffff8102e741>] start_secondary+0x1a0/0x1a5 Code: 24 14 e8 f1 e5 01 00 31 d2 a8 32 0f 95 c2 49 8b 44 24 2c 49 0b 44 24 24 74 05 83 ca 04 eb 1c 4d 85 ed 74 17 49 8b 85 a8 02 00 00 <66> 8b 40 46 66 c1 e8 07 83 e0 07 c1 e0 03 09 c2 4c 89 e6 48 89 RIP [<ffffffff8143c459>] ip6_route_output+0x58/0x82 RSP <ffff88007fd03668> CR2: 0000000000000046 ---[ end trace 4612329caab37efd ]--- When vxlan interface is created without explicit group definition, the default_dst protocol family is initialiazed to AF_UNSPEC and the driver assumes IPv4 configuration. On the other side, the default_dst protocol family is used to differentiate between IPv4 and IPv6 cases and, since, AF_UNSPEC != AF_INET, the processing takes the IPv6 path. Making the IPv4 assumption explicit by settting default_dst protocol family to AF_INET4 and preventing mixing of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses in snooped fdb entries fixes the corner case crashes. The commit below introduced an unsafe dereference of mvmvif->phy_ctxt. It can be NULL even if we hold the mutex. We can be handling a BT Coex notification while the vif has already been unassigned. This can happen since the BT Coex notification is hanled asynchronuously: we can have started to handle the BT Coex notification trying to acquire the mutex while the unassign flow already got it. The BT Coex notification handling will wait for the mutext. I'll get it later, but then mvmvif->phy_ctxt will be NULL. sysctl has sysctl.net.core.rmem_*/wmem_* parameters which can be set to incorrect values. Given that 'struct sk_buff' allocates from rcvbuf, incorrectly set buffer length could result to memory allocation failures. For example, set them as follows: # sysctl net.core.rmem_default=64 net.core.wmem_default = 64 # sysctl net.core.wmem_default=64 net.core.wmem_default = 64 # ping localhost -s 1024 -i 0 > /dev/null This could result to the following failure: skbuff: skb_over_panic: text:ffffffff81628db4 len:-32 put:-32 head:ffff88003a1cc200 data:ffff88003a1cc200 tail:0xffffffe0 end:0xc0 dev:<NULL> kernel BUG at net/core/skbuff.c:102! invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] SMP ... task: ffff88003b7f5550 ti: ffff88003ae88000 task.ti: ffff88003ae88000 RIP: 0010:[<ffffffff8155fbd1>] [<ffffffff8155fbd1>] skb_put+0xa1/0xb0 RSP: 0018:ffff88003ae8bc68 EFLAGS: 00010296 RAX: 000000000000008d RBX: 00000000ffffffe0 RCX: 0000000000000000 RDX: ffff88003fdcf598 RSI: ffff88003fdcd9c8 RDI: ffff88003fdcd9c8 RBP: ffff88003ae8bc88 R08: 0000000000000001 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 0000000000000001 R11: 00000000000002b2 R12: 0000000000000000 R13: 0000000000000000 R14: ffff88003d3f7300 R15: ffff88000012a900 FS: 00007fa0e2b4a840(0000) GS:ffff88003fc00000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 0000000000d0f7e0 CR3: 000000003b8fb000 CR4: 00000000000006f0 Stack: ffff88003a1cc200 00000000ffffffe0 00000000000000c0 ffffffff818cab1d ffff88003ae8bd68 ffffffff81628db4 ffff88003ae8bd48 ffff88003b7f5550 ffff880031a09408 ffff88003b7f5550 ffff88000012aa48 ffff88000012ab00 Call Trace: [<ffffffff81628db4>] unix_stream_sendmsg+0x2c4/0x470 [<ffffffff81556f56>] sock_write_iter+0x146/0x160 [<ffffffff811d9612>] new_sync_write+0x92/0xd0 [<ffffffff811d9cd6>] vfs_write+0xd6/0x180 [<ffffffff811da499>] SyS_write+0x59/0xd0 [<ffffffff81651532>] system_call_fastpath+0x12/0x17 Code: 00 00 48 89 44 24 10 8b 87 c8 00 00 00 48 89 44 24 08 48 8b 87 d8 00 00 00 48 c7 c7 30 db 91 81 48 89 04 24 31 c0 e8 4f a8 0e 00 <0f> 0b eb fe 66 66 2e 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 00 55 48 89 e5 48 83 RIP [<ffffffff8155fbd1>] skb_put+0xa1/0xb0 RSP <ffff88003ae8bc68> Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception Moreover, the possible minimum is 1, so we can get another kernel panic: ... Functions rtsx_usb_ep0_read_register() and rtsx_usb_get_card_status() both use arbitrary buffer addresses from arguments directly for DMA and the buffers could be located in stack. This was caught by DMA-API debug check. Fixes this by using double-buffers via kzalloc in both functions to guarantee the validity of DMA buffer. A number of tx queue wake-up events went missing due to the outlined scenario below. Start state is a pool of 16 tx URBs, active tx_urbs count = 15, with the netdev tx queue open. CPU #1 [softirq] CPU #2 [softirq] start_xmit() tx_acknowledge() ................ ................ atomic_inc(&tx_urbs); if (atomic_read(&tx_urbs) >= 16) { --> atomic_dec(&tx_urbs); netif_wake_queue(); return; <-- netif_stop_queue(); } At the end, the correct state expected is a 15 tx_urbs count value with the tx queue state _open_. Due to the race, we get the same tx_urbs value but with the tx queue state _stopped_. The wake-up event is completely lost. Thus avoid hand-rolled concurrency mechanisms and use a proper lock for contexts and tx queue protection. Signed-off-by: Ahmed S. The commit "drm/exynos: remove exynos_plane_dpms" (d9ea625) removed the use of the enabled flag, which means that the code may attempt to call win_enable on a NULL crtc. SAS controller has its own tag allocation, which doesn't directly match to ATA tag, so SAS and SATA have different code path for ata tags. Originally we use port->scsi_host (98bd4be) to destinguish SAS controller, but libsas set ->scsi_host too, so we can't use it for the destinguish, we add a new flag for this purpose. Without this patch, the following oops can happen because scsi-mq uses a host-wide tag map shared among all devices with some integer tag values >= ATA_MAX_QUEUE. These unexpectedly high tag values cause __ata_qc_from_tag() to return NULL, which is then dereferenced in ata_qc_new_init(). This patch fixes a NULL pointer dereference when enabling regmap event tracing in the presence of a syscon regmap, introduced by commit bdb0066 ("mfd: syscon: Decouple syscon interface from platform devices"). That patch introduced syscon regmaps that have their dev field set to NULL. The regmap trace events expect it to point to a valid struct device and feed it to dev_name(): $ echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/regmap/enable Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000002c pgd = 80004000 [0000002c] *pgd=00000000 Internal error: Oops: 17 [#1] SMP ARM Modules linked in: coda videobuf2_vmalloc CPU: 0 PID: 304 Comm: kworker/0:2 Not tainted 4.0.0-rc2+ #9197 Hardware name: Freescale i.MX6 Quad/DualLite (Device Tree) Workqueue: events_freezable thermal_zone_device_check task: 9f25a200 ti: 9f1ee000 task.ti: 9f1ee000 PC is at ftrace_raw_event_regmap_block+0x3c/0xe4 LR is at _regmap_raw_read+0x1bc/0x1cc pc : [<803636e8>] lr : [<80365f2c>] psr: 600f0093 sp : 9f1efd78 ip : 9f1efdb8 fp : 9f1efdb4 r10: 00000004 r9 : 00000001 r8 : 00000001 r7 : 00000180 r6 : 00000000 r5 : 9f00e3c0 r4 : 00000003 r3 : 00000001 r2 : 00000180 r1 : 00000000 r0 : 9f00e3c0 Flags: nZCv IRQs off FIQs on Mode SVC_32 ISA ARM Segment kernel Control: 10c5387d Table: 2d91004a DAC: 00000015 Process kworker/0:2 (pid: 304, stack limit = 0x9f1ee210) Stack: (0x9f1efd78 to 0x9f1f0000) fd60: 9f1efda4 9f1efd88 fd80: 800708c0 805f9510 80927140 800f0013 9f1fc800 9eb2f490 00000000 00000180 fda0: 808e3840 00000001 9f1efdfc 9f1efdb8 80365f2c 803636b8 805f8958 800708e0 fdc0: a00f0013 803636ac 9f16de00 00000180 80927140 9f1fc800 9f1fc800 9f1efe6c fde0: 9f1efe6c 9f732400 00000000 00000000 9f1efe1c 9f1efe00 80365f70 80365d7c fe00: 80365f3c 9f1fc800 9f1fc800 00000180 9f1efe44 9f1efe20 803656a4 80365f48 fe20: 9f1fc800 00000180 9f1efe6c 9f1efe6c 9f732400 00000000 9f1efe64 9f1efe48 fe40: 803657bc 80365634 00000001 9e95f910 9f1fc800 9f1efeb4 9f1efe8c 9f1efe68 fe60: 80452ac0 80365778 9f1efe8c 9f1efe78 9e93d400 9e93d5e8 9f1efeb4 9f72ef40 fe80: 9f1efeac 9f1efe90 8044e11c 80452998 8045298c 9e93d608 9e93d400 808e1978 fea0: 9f1efecc 9f1efeb0 8044fd14 8044e0d0 ffffffff 9f25a200 9e93d608 9e481380 fec0: 9f1efedc 9f1efed0 8044fde8 8044fcec 9f1eff1c 9f1efee0 80038d50 8044fdd8 fee0: 9f1ee020 9f72ef40 9e481398 00000000 00000008 9f72ef54 9f1ee020 9f72ef40 ff00: 9e481398 9e481380 00000008 9f72ef40 9f1eff5c 9f1eff20 80039754 80038bfc ff20: 00000000 9e481380 80894100 808e1662 00000000 9e4f2ec0 00000000 9e481380 ff40: 800396f8 00000000 00000000 00000000 9f1effac 9f1eff60 8003e020 80039704 ff60: ffffffff 00000000 ffffffff 9e481380 00000000 00000000 9f1eff78 9f1eff78 ff80: 00000000 00000000 9f1eff88 9f1eff88 9e4f2ec0 8003df30 00000000 00000000 ffa0: 00000000 9f1effb0 8000eb60 8003df3c 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 ffc0: 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 ffe0: 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000013 00000000 ffffffff ffffffff Backtrace: [<803636ac>] (ftrace_raw_event_regmap_block) from [<80365f2c>] (_regmap_raw_read+0x1bc/0x1cc) r9:00000001 r8:808e3840 r7:00000180 r6:00000000 r5:9eb2f490 r4:9f1fc800 [<80365d70>] (_regmap_raw_read) from [<80365f70>] (_regmap_bus_read+0x34/0x6c) r10:00000000 r9:00000000 r8:9f732400 r7:9f1efe6c r6:9f1efe6c r5:9f1fc800 r4:9f1fc800 [<80365f3c>] (_regmap_bus_read) from [<803656a4>] (_regmap_read+0x7c/0x144) r6:00000180 r5:9f1fc800 r4:9f1fc800 r3:80365f3c [<80365628>] (_regmap_read) from [<803657bc>] (regmap_read+0x50/0x70) r9:00000000 r8:9f732400 r7:9f1efe6c r6:9f1efe6c r5:00000180 r4:9f1fc800 [<8036576c>] (regmap_read) from [<80452ac0>] (imx_get_temp+0x134/0x1a4) r6:9f1efeb4 r5:9f1fc800 r4:9e95f910 r3:00000001 [<8045298c>] (imx_get_temp) from [<8044e11c>] (thermal_zone_get_temp+0x58/0x74) r7:9f72ef40 r6:9f1efeb4 r5:9e93d5e8 r4:9e93d400 [<8044e0c4>] (thermal_zone_get_temp) from [<8044fd14>] (thermal_zone_device_update+0x34/0xec) r6:808e1978 r5:9e93d400 r4:9e93d608 r3:8045298c [<8044fce0>] (thermal_zone_device_update) from [<8044fde8>] (thermal_zone_device_check+0x1c/0x20) r5:9e481380 r4:9e93d608 [<8044fdcc>] (thermal_zone_device_check) from [<80038d50>] (process_one_work+0x160/0x3d4) [<80038bf0>] (process_one_work) from [<80039754>] (worker_thread+0x5c/0x4f4) r10:9f72ef40 r9:00000008 r8:9e481380 r7:9e481398 r6:9f72ef40 r5:9f1ee020 r4:9f72ef54 [<800396f8>] (worker_thread) from [<8003e020>] (kthread+0xf0/0x108) r10:00000000 r9:00000000 r8:00000000 r7:800396f8 r6:9e481380 r5:00000000 r4:9e4f2ec0 [<8003df30>] (kthread) from [<8000eb60>] (ret_from_fork+0x14/0x34) r7:00000000 r6:00000000 r5:8003df30 r4:9e4f2ec0 Code: e3140040 1a00001a e3140020 1a000016 (e596002c) ---[ end trace 193c15c2494ec960 ]--- Fixes: bdb0066 (mfd: syscon: Decouple syscon interface from platform devices) Signed-off-by: Philipp Zabel <p.zabel@pengutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@kernel.org> Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org

We occasionally see in procedure mlx4_GEN_EQE that the driver tries to grab an uninitialized mutex. This can occur in only one of two ways: 1. We are trying to generate an async event on an uninitialized slave. 2. We are trying to generate an async event on an illegal slave number ( < 0 or > persist->num_vfs) or an inactive slave. To deal with #1: move the mutex initialization from specific slave init sequence in procedure mlx_master_do_cmd to mlx4_multi_func_init() (so that the mutex is always initialized for all slaves). To deal with #2: check in procedure mlx4_GEN_EQE that the slave number provided is in the proper range and that the slave is active. Commit 3c60509 ("mm/page_alloc: restrict max order of merging on isolated pageblock") changed the logic of unset_migratetype_isolate to check the buddy allocator and explicitly call __free_pages to merge. The page that is being freed in this path never had prep_new_page called so set_page_refcounted is called explicitly but there is no call to kernel_map_pages. With the default kernel_map_pages this is mostly harmless but if kernel_map_pages does any manipulation of the page tables (unmapping or setting pages to read only) this may trigger a fault: alloc_contig_range test_pages_isolated(ceb00, ced00) failed Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address ffffffc0cec00000 pgd = ffffffc045fc4000 [ffffffc0cec00000] *pgd=0000000000000000 Internal error: Oops: 9600004f [#1] PREEMPT SMP Modules linked in: exfatfs CPU: 1 PID: 23237 Comm: TimedEventQueue Not tainted 3.10.49-gc72ad36-dirty #1 task: ffffffc03de52100 ti: ffffffc015388000 task.ti: ffffffc015388000 PC is at memset+0xc8/0x1c0 LR is at kernel_map_pages+0x1ec/0x244 Fix this by calling kernel_map_pages to ensure the page is set in the page table properly Fixes: 3c60509 ("mm/page_alloc: restrict max order of merging on isolated pageblock") Signed-off-by: Laura Abbott <lauraa@codeaurora.org> Cc: Naoya Horiguchi <n-horiguchi@ah.jp.nec.com> Cc: Mel Gorman <mgorman@suse.de> Acked-by: Rik van Riel <riel@redhat.com> Cc: Yasuaki Ishimatsu <isimatu.yasuaki@jp.fujitsu.com> Cc: Zhang Yanfei <zhangyanfei@cn.fujitsu.com> Cc: Xishi Qiu <qiuxishi@huawei.com> Cc: Vladimir Davydov <vdavydov@parallels.com> Acked-by: Joonsoo Kim <iamjoonsoo.kim@lge.com> Cc: Gioh Kim <gioh.kim@lge.com> Cc: Michal Nazarewicz <mina86@mina86.com> Cc: Marek Szyprowski <m.szyprowski@samsung.com> Cc: Vlastimil Babka <vbabka@suse.cz> Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

…aster_register" Adding the destroy_workqueue call in i3c_master_register introduced below kernel warning because it makes duplicate destroy_workqueue calls when i3c_master_register fails after allocating the workqueue. The workqueue will be destroyed by i3c_masterdev_release which is called by put_device at the end of the i3c_master_register function eventually in failure cases so the workqueue doesn't need to be destroyed in i3c_master_register. Here it trigger a 'Instruction page fault' exception (value at 'scause' is '0xc'), if PF is not filled into PageTabe for that slot yet. 4) Again kernel trap into page fault exception handler, where it choose different policy according to the state of running kprobe. Because afte 2) the state is KPROBE_HIT_SS, so kernel reset the current kprobe and 'pc' points back to the probe address. 5) Because 'epc' point back to 'ebreak' instrution at sys_read probe, kernel trap into breakpoint handler again, and repeat the operations at 2), however 'sstatus' without 'SIE' is keep at 4), it cause the real 'sstatus' saved at 2) is overwritten by the one withou 'SIE'. 6) When kernel cross the probe the 'sstatus' CSR restore with value without 'SIE', and reach __find_get_block where it requires the interrupt must be enabled. Fix this is very trivial, just restore the value of 'sstatus' in pt_regs with backup one at 2) when the instruction being single stepped cause a page fault. There's a panic that occurs in a few of envs, the call trace is as below: [] general protection fault, ... 0x29acd70f1000a: 0000 [#1] SMP PTI [] RIP: 0010:sctp_ulpevent_notify_peer_addr_change+0x4b/0x1fa [sctp] [] sctp_assoc_control_transport+0x1b9/0x210 [sctp] [] sctp_do_8_2_transport_strike.isra.16+0x15c/0x220 [sctp] [] sctp_cmd_interpreter.isra.21+0x1231/0x1a10 [sctp] [] sctp_do_sm+0xc3/0x2a0 [sctp] [] sctp_generate_timeout_event+0x81/0xf0 [sctp] This is caused by a transport use-after-free issue. When processing a duplicate COOKIE-ECHO chunk in sctp_sf_do_dupcook_a(), both COOKIE-ACK and SHUTDOWN chunks are allocated with the transort from the new asoc. However, later in the sideeffect machine, the old asoc is used to send them out and old asoc's shutdown_last_sent_to is set to the transport that SHUTDOWN chunk attached to in sctp_cmd_setup_t2(), which actually belongs to the new asoc. After the new_asoc is freed and the old asoc T2 timeout, the old asoc's shutdown_last_sent_to that is already freed would be accessed in sctp_sf_t2_timer_expire(). Thanks Alexander and Jere for helping dig into this issue. To fix it, this patch is to do the asoc update first, then allocate the COOKIE-ACK and SHUTDOWN chunks with the 'updated' old asoc. This would make more sense, as a chunk from an asoc shouldn't be sent out with another asoc. We had fixed quite a few issues caused by this.
