The idea of a "project type" would allow test-kitchen to turn on certain configuration and/or behavior based on the conventions a projects follow. Project types could be identified via some sort of automatic fingerprinting with a manual override from the user via CLI option or .kitchen.yml config.

Initial support should include:

  • Chef Cookbooks
  • Ruby
  • Erlang.

@schisamo can you expand on this a bit more? Maybe some code examples would help clarify this use case?
