Double click issue: user clicks a link from email again (after the verification has already been made previously).
Show dedicated message, when current user doesn't have a pending email address, but there's a verification error.
If the token is used already, there's going to be a verification error (Forbidden).
Note: the same error happens if dev is playing with several accounts and has current user (in existing session) that points to a different person than to whom the verification token belongs to.
