Here is a diagram of how Valkyrie might be used in a Samvera application, with or without Hyrax. The current Hyrax 1 & 2 architecture is also shown for comparison.

  • Hyrax 1 & 2 refers to Hyrax versions 1.0 (released 5/23/2017) and 2.0 (currently nearing release in release candidate status) — these versions of Hyrax use ActiveFedora and Fedora for persistence.
  • Hyrax 3 refers to the Valkyrie branch of Hyrax (currently in early stages of development and preliminarily slated to be Hyrax 3.0) — this version of Hyrax uses Valkyrie for persistence.
  • Valkyrie refers to applications using Valkyrie directly for persistence, e.g., Figgy.
