Experiencing freezes

Hy, I really love the project, but unfortunately I have been experiencing application freezes each time I press enter to play a song. I have been wondering if someone else had experienced similar behavior or if you could help me to debug this issue.

Does the file still play? There is a couple seconds freeze on m4a files if you compiled without faad2. Currently the Homebrew formula is without Faad. But in those cases the file doesn't play.

What kind of file is it?

What terminal?

What OS?

How did you install kew?

Is there something peculiar about the files or how/where they are stored? Are you running in a VM?

There is nothing special about the files, they play normally in other music players. Files are stored in the default directory /home/user/Music. I am not running in a vm

Not terribly much to go on. Are you running any mpris widgets or scripts?

Try:
Quit kew.
Open /home/user/.config/kew/kewrc
Set:
allowNotifications=0
Save
See if the problem is still there.

It actually works after removing notifications 😍 thank you very much

Libnotify again. There was a user with long delays when starting the app and it was because of that. I'll have to review the code for that again.

I think I have discovered the root cause of this issue. In kde when you turn on the "do not disturb" mode with the option "Until manually disabled"

and then you remove notifications widget from panel you get the following error in the notifications settings.

After adding notifications widget to the panel again everything works fine with notifications. So there is most likely nothing wrong with your code 😉.
