Call Number Index and Display
The initial release will index LC call numbers for faceting. For LC call number indexing, we will use the 050
field's subfield a
, not the 949
. We will use the first 050
which exists.
Desired behavior is like Princeton's:
- Grouped by single letter with label
- Expand to view all 1-3 letter prefixes with labels
e.g. a work on museums AM7 .C89 2019
would be under top-level "A - General Works" and "AM - Museums." A work with call number A6661.E8 E6 201
would be under "A - General Works" and, when A is expanded, would be under a repeated "A - General Works" -- see Princeton's sidebar. Example display:
- A General Works
- A General Works
- AC Collections Works
- AE Encyclopedias
- etc
