The font is really nice but the block combines ancient and middle scripts. You probably investigated late (≈15th century) scripts but killed all ancient letters.

  1. 11900 Dives Akuru letter A is really large. Is it possible to make it… a bit smaller?
  2. Hang all vowel signs to dotted circle too.

  3. Draw missing early letters in the same style. Your font has LOTS of tofu.
  4. Consonant conjuncts, both stuck and ligated, do not work.

Draw missing early letters in the same style. Your font has LOTS of tofu.

Sorry, we are not doing this because the early letters are not attested in that manuscript style. The answer is to have a separate Evela Akuru font in the appropriate style.

Of course, old-style font is the best solution, of course, but who’s going to draw it?

Probably Fernando again, he's the expert. :-)

I will respond to the other points.

Of course, old-style font is the best solution, of course, but who’s going to draw it?

It is true that an older version of the script would cover more Unicode codepoints, but not all of them. For instance, “gap filler” and “end of text mark” only appear in the later stage.

The decision to prioritise the more recent forms is because there is more need in the current use. Although the script is extinct, it is taught in the Maldives today as a way of connecting with the history, and the most recent forms are the ones in use.

11900 Dives Akuru letter A is really large. Is it possible to make it… a bit smaller?

In the period covered by this project, the letter ‘a’ should be large enough to cover one or two of the following letters. It is not attested in isolation.

Hang all vowel signs to dotted circle too.

I agree that this should be fixed.

Consonant conjuncts, both stuck and ligated, do not work.

Conjuncts work differently in the two periods of the script. In the later period, these combinations have distinct forms when connected and had to be designed individually on a case-by-case basis. Since it was not feasible to design all possible combinations, the most commonly used ones were included in the font.

11956 Dives Akuru vowel sign Ai misrendered, IDK what should have been.

It looks correct to me. Do you mean the extra space? This is what distinguishes 'ai' from 'e'.

If BOTH fonts in conjunction cover all characters → OK.
