I enjoy puzzles, challenge, languages and learning, and I apply creativity, curiousity and attention to detail to my work. Book Me Up 📚
Backend Frontend
Web application to facilitate community book sharing. Final project at Makers. MongoDB, Express, React, Node.JS. Tested with Enzyme, Mocha-Chai and Cypress. APIs and single page functionality. Built in an agile team over 2 weeks.

In my next job it's important that... I have opportunities to take some ownership. I have really enjoyed feature leading and would love to continue doing this or something similar.

In 3-5 years I want to be... a senior engineer who is solving interesting and exciting problems, and who has made, and continues to make, a positive impact in a sector that truly benefits quality of life.

Osprey Charging Network (Mar 2023 to present) Software Engineer

  • Joined a fairly new cross-functional team of 8 working alongside a team of 3 consultants bringing the tech in house.
  • Working in a completely new tech stack and structure including separate development, staging and production environments and with native apps.
  • Introduced front end component and unit tests.
  • Set up linting and code quality checks.
  • Upgraded multiple tools including Vue 2 to Vue 3, Capacitor 2 to 5 and custom plugins.

Nested Estate Agent (May 2021 to Mar 2023) Software Engineer

Very proud of my progress at Nested, I rose to multiple challenges whether technical, team or business related, as evidenced in my performance reviews and promotions.

  • Joined a cross-functional team of 14 to build new features, which reduced to 3, giving me the opportunity to rise to multiple challenges and take on leadership responsibilities.
  • Led features from idea to ship, worked closely with product managers and designers, facilitated discussion, planned and oversaw the build on features that reduced stakeholder workload by 30%.
  • Collaborated closely with colleagues and stakeholders to drive initiatives to eliminate reliance on third party tools, reducing overheads by over 50%.
  • Delivered training sessions, reviewed code, led tech strategy initiative, mentored a colleague and regularly sought feedback to learn and progress.
  • Thoroughly enjoyed the variety of working across the entire stack.

Projects at Makers Academy (Oct 2020 to Feb 2021)
Student

  • Worked in an agile team to develop Book Me Up in an entirely new tech stack in just two weeks. Focused on using a high-quality TDD process and sharing learnings across the team.
  • Built imitations of several well-known services, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Airbnb, some collaboratively and some individually.

Various Secondary Schools (Sept 2010 to Aug 2020)
Teacher of Maths, Assistant Examinations Officer and Assistant Head of Year 12-13

  • Responsible for teaching students aged 11 - 18, including Further Maths, and ensuring internal and public examinations were executed lawfully and with accurate data.

Interests and Activities 🎹 ⛷️ 🌎

Music - Performed with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Young Musician Symphony Orchestra and European Youth Summer Music.

Sport - Avid skier. Ran the 2013 Berlin marathon. Currently enjoying netball!

Travel - Travelled extensively through the Americas, New Zealand and Asia. Hiked in the Himalayas and the Andes, gained the Advanced PADI scuba diving qualification and learned new languages including Spanish and Japanese. Loved the different cultures and food!
