Microsoft PowerToys version

0.88.0

Installation method

GitHub

Running as admin

No

Area(s) with issue?

Keyboard Manager

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create shortcut remappings in PowerToys version prior to 0.88.0 (e.g., remap Ctrl-P to Alt-P in Obsidian)
  2. Verify that the remappings work for the entirety of a user session.
  3. Update PowerToys to latest release (0.88.0)
  4. Use any remapping at least three times.

✔️ Expected Behavior

I expected shortcut remappings to continue to work, allowing me, for example, to type Ctrl-P and have it interpreted by the system as Alt-P.

❌ Actual Behavior

All shortcut remappings stop working until the next reboot, after which time they will work perhaps twice and then stop working.

After reading other similar issues, I tried turning off additional modules in PowerToys and shortcut remappings seem to be stable now. Closing this issue as a duplicate.

Where are these additional modules?

I didn't track exactly which modules conflicted, but I believe I turned off these:

  • Mouse Highlighter
  • Quick Accent
  • Shortcut Guide
  • Peek

I currently have the following modules enabled and have no issues with the shortcut remappings:

  • Color Picker
  • PowerToys Run
  • Image Resizer
  • PowerRename
  • ZoomIt
  • Keyboard Manager
  • Screen Ruler

I disabled all the modules and only kept the Keyboard Manager, but it still stops working ☹️.

The strangest thing is that if I remove the remapping of shortcuts everything works fine, it is the source of the problem.
