The new license and the information on 1001fonts and fontmeme indicate that the original issue with the font being compatible with Debian might have been resolved.

From old emails with Joe Nahmias:

I took a look at the font situation. The font license only permits
non-commercial distribution which is incompatible with the Debian Free
Software Guidelines [0] (which is part of Debian's social contract).

Seems it is now free for both personal and commercial use:

So some options are:

  • Re-evaluate Fraktur Modern font for inclusion in the MagicMaze Debian package.
  • Push for Fraktur Modern font into Debian (?!?)
  • Drop Fraktur Modern and go all in on Isabella?
  • Revisit yfrak font (in texlive-fonts-extra package)?
