Let to install or upgrade BigSur on any unsupported BigSur capable Mac with minimum requirement a Penryn Core2Duo cpu (also non-APFS Mac and Legacy USB).

For non-APFS Mac you'd need USBOpenCoreAPFSloader4b2 (included an internal version also on BaseSystemfix) to detect any APFS bootable volumes and the stage2 macOS Installer, this version is compatible with many non-APFS machines, but you might need to use a previous USBopencore version for MacBookPro4,1 and similar machines with DDR2 RAM (example MacPro3,1) to detect correctly the opencore text menu: https://github.com/jacklukem/USBOpenCoreAPFSloader/releases/download/3.0/USBOpenCoreAPFSloader3.app.zip

Arrandale i5 i7 (MacBookPro), Clarksdale i3 and Lynnfield i5 i7 (iMac), Nehalem and Westmere (MacPro) Intel Xeon architecture cpus starting from 11.1 are now supported (apple fixed the ACPI kp)

Before start, to build this patcher, you need an Install macOS Big Sur.app (or beta) can retrieve it from any InstallAssistant.pkg (or from https://apps.apple.com/app/macos-11-0-beta/id1497794093?mt=12 or https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macos-big-sur/id1526878132?mt=12), then make with createinstallmedia a stock BigSur Installer:

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Big\ Sur.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/“YourUSBLabel”

Instead of an USB drive, you can use also a faster HFS+ 16 GB partition (external to the APFS container) on an hard disk

Once the stock Installer is made, apply first the BigSur BaseSystem Legacy USB fix (might take up to 15 minutes), then unplug and plug again your USB drive and apply BigSur BaseSystem Legacy USB fix2 (might take up to 10 minutes), after done you can boot holding alt-option key from apple startup manager, from opencore, refind or any bootloader that supports HFS+

To install or upgrade BigSur on unsupported Mac use from Utilities menu the ASentientBot Hax installer quick fix (that automatically load in background the patched InstallAssistant) or from main menu Hax Installer fix clicking on the upper right finder menu.

During the stage1 installer environment you can use CMD+L to show the installer log and progress loading bar or simply clicking the background window.

If stage1 installer when completes doesn't reboot automatically simply clicking "Closing other applications", then in some seconds the MSUInstall popup shows: "Closing Applications and preparing to restart" and it's done automatically.

Check here for more details:

Recently added new features as custom folder where you can install any kext you want, keyboard backlit enabler (only for MacBookAir and MacBookPro) and Kernel Extensions Loading (for allowing third party kext on BKE kmutil).

Attached also BigSurBaseSystemfix2.dmg external recovery patcher, updated for generic BigSur 11.1 or later, simply restore through DiskUtility this DMG to a minimum 2 GB USB drive (or a 16 GB USB to add also the updated Beta installer), besides DiskUtility you can use also its Apple Software Restore command line :

sudo asr -source ~/Downloads/BigSurBaseSystemfix2.dmg -erase -noverify -target /Volumes/YourUSBLabel

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Big\ Sur.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/“YourUSBLabel”

Instead of an USB drive, you can use also a faster HFS+ 20 GB partition (external to the APFS container) on an hard disk

(When applying this fix is advisable to set csrutil disable)

Once the stock Installer is made, apply first the BigSur BaseSystem Legacy USB fix (might take up to 15 minutes), then unplug and plug again your USB drive and apply BigSur BaseSystem Legacy USB fix2 (might take up to 10 minutes), after done you can boot holding alt-option key from apple startup manager, from opencore, refind or any bootloader.

This minimalist patcher allows to build a BigSur Installer Recovery environment with Sound and Wifi (using Safari from recovery, currently only Broadcom cards), adding to it some my customised setup apps useful for patching.

To install or upgrade BigSur on unsupported Mac use from Utilities menu the ASentientBot Hax3 installer quick fix (that automatically load in background the patched InstallAssistant) or from main menu Hax3 Installer fix clicking on the upper right finder menu.
