The idea of the OrchidCare (automated Orchid farm) follows "the best orchid growing conditions" principle. No doubts, everyone knows what's "the best orchid growing conditions". And the most likely this is not what orchids need. We have built an algorithm based on years-long orchid growth study.
Mainly, the OrchidCare works as:
- Measures environmental data.
- Compares with "the best orchid growing conditions".
- Decides what and when should be corrected/improved.
- Applies the decision in action (actuator control).
OrchidCare has 2 goals:
- Take care for optimal orchid grow in your particular conditions. This is done automatically, of course.
- Educate orchid owner to grow orchids, to have yearly blossom.
- Automatic "the best orchid growing conditions" control.
- Manual activation or deactivation of actuators (switches and valves).
- Actuator control with timer.
- Water leakage detection and alerts.
- "No water" detection and alert.
- Sensors failure detection and alert.
- Logging/viewing of environmental data.
- Logging/viewing of actions.
- View of system information.
- Web GUI from anywhere in the World.
- Works behind NAT, firewalls.
- Network independent, automatic network connection recovery.
- For environment reading redundancy/reliability sensors are duplicated from different vendors.
- For flexibility misting has water valve and electrical outlet.
- User can backup data/settings.
- User can change login password.
- Automated firmware update.
- Data download option as a table.
No wonder, perfect Hi-Tech automation can't beat poor infrastructure. Orchid farm electrical and watering systems must be arranged properly.
