The Tank represents an armored ground unit with overwhelming force, embodying the strength and durability of modern armored vehicles in warfare.
The Tank combines the traditional movement of the Rook with the unique Overrun ability, allowing it to capture and advance through enemy Pawn lines in a single move. This piece reflects the power of armored units to breach defenses in modern warfare, adding a dynamic and strategic element to the game.
Movement
Standard Move: Moves like a Rook in traditional chess.
Direction: Any number of unoccupied squares horizontally or vertically along the ranks and files.
Jumping: Cannot jump over other pieces; movement is blocked by any intervening pieces.
Special Ability
Overrun:
Mechanics: When moving, the Tank can capture an enemy Pawn by moving into its square and continue its movement beyond that square in the same direction.
Conditions:
Single Overrun: Can overrun only one Pawn per move.
Limitations: Cannot overrun or capture higher-value enemy pieces (e.g., Knights, Bishops, Missile Launchers, Fighter Jets, Tanks, or the King).
Path Continuation: After capturing the Pawn, the Tank may continue moving in the same direction until it chooses to stop or is blocked by another piece.
Strategic Use: Ideal for breaking through enemy Pawn structures and penetrating defensive lines.
Special Rules
Castling:
Eligibility: The Tank can participate in castling with the King under the same conditions as traditional Rooks.
Conditions:
Neither the King nor the Tank has previously moved.
No pieces are between the King and the Tank.
The King is not in check, does not pass through check, and does not end up in check.
Movement: The King moves two squares towards the Tank, and the Tank moves to the square immediately next to the King on the opposite side.
Notation
Symbol: T
Example Move: "Td4" indicates the Tank moves to square d4.
Overrun Notation: "Txd4(e5)" indicates the Tank captures a Pawn on d4 and continues to e5.
