I just came back to review this thread and saw that my email response to you did not seem to upload properly. I tried to attach the file you requested but it's saying that dot-settings files are not allowed. I have added dot-txt to the file extension so it will upload here, and checked that it will download and open correctly for you.

Can you please share the %APPDATA%\FxSound\FxSound.settings file? It will help us understand if the exception occurs with any particular settings.

Thank you for spending time in helping us analyse this issue and sharing the logs and applications settings.
I tried to replicate the crash with this settings and upgrade from 1.1.27.0 to 1.1.28.0, but the application launched without any crash.
Also, the update from @LexBoosT that the application crashes on fresh install indicates that the issue is not related to upgrade alone.
I will continue to debug the issue and hope to find a solution soon.

Could it be something related to being on the Release Preview channel of Windows 11? I am, but don't know about other users. Also I use Explorer Patcher, and that modifies Explorer.exe in order to change some taskbar functionality. To others on this thread who have had this exception issue, are you using Release Preview or other Windows channels like beta or dev? Do you use Explorer Patcher? Ok I found something that could help you, after installing version 1.1.27.0 I updated to version 1.1.28.0 I got the error. I went to modify the version number in the FxSound.settings to put it in 1.1.28.0 and restarted the computer. At startup FxSound launches normally and I am in version 1.1.28.0.

I receive the same exception when connecting via RDP to my Windows 11 computer.
With older versions of FXSound I didn't get any exception but after logging in locally to my computer after a RDP session FXSound had closed itself and I need to restart it to get audio working again.

Ok I found something that could help you, after installing version 1.1.27.0 I updated to version 1.1.28.0 I got the error. Yep, I had to change it manually using your idea. Nothing changed and just an error occurred.
I used your information about "%APPDATA%\FxSound\FxSound.settings"
