It's hard. It's always hard the first time you do something. Especially when you are collaborating, making mistakes isn't a comfortable thing. But open source is all about collaboration & working together. We wanted to simplify the way new open-source contributors learn & contribute for the first time.

Reading articles & watching tutorials can help, but what comes better than actually doing the stuff without messing up anything. This project aims at providing guidance & simplifying the way rookies make their first contribution. Remember: the more relaxed you are the better you learn. If you are looking for making your first contribution just follow the simple steps below. We promise you, it will be fun.

^ This part is not there in Dutch translation right? Would you like to add that?

Yes Polish version of beginner site is up to date with the English one.

I'll be working on a Catalan translation for the README.md file.
Should the file be named README.es-ca.md or README.ca.md ?

@Sergih28

To simplify it I named it README.ca.md, I'm already halfway! 😄

@Sergih28

I noticed that the Spanish translation is not up to date anymore while doing the Catalan translation from the English one, because I took a look at the Spanish file for some orientation purposes.

@Sergih28, Thank you for taking this up. I think Readme.ca.md is fine.

I noticed that the Spanish translation is not up to date anymore while doing the Catalan translation from the English one, because I took a look at the Spanish file for some orientation purposes.

We want all translations to be up to date with English version in time. It'd be awesome if you can fix Spanish translation as well. :)

Ok, I can. But, there are some translations I'd probably do different.
Should I change them?
Because if I don't, the whole translation will have different translation "styles" which will make the readme file a bit weird to read (not to understand), but I don't wanna discredit the work of the one who translated it first.

Spanish translations can be tricky, because Spanish from Spain (which is where I'm form) can be quite different from SA Spanish 😅

@Roshanjossey

@Sergih28, yeah, I understand that problem. One workaround that I can think of is to do what we did with Portuguese translations. We have one for Portugal and one for Brazil. You could change the current one for Spain and we could get someone else to do South American Spanish. Also, try to find if you can find someone to do review of the translation. Having a second opinion is always better. :)

Sergih28 commented Sep 22, 2018

I reviewed it a little bit more in depth and I don't think there's any need to have a double Spanish translation.
It should be just a matter of updating it and "fixing" small expressions to make the translation a bit more fluent when you read it, so to say. But it's pretty fine as it is besides that.
So, may I just update and "correct" that in the Spanish README.es.md then? @Roshanjossey

It's pretty much up to date, just a a paragraph and the flag list missing as far as I can see.

@Roshanjossey
Copy link
Member Author

Yes @Sergih28, please go ahead.

We don't need flag list in translations though.

@Sergih28
Copy link

I'll delete it form the Catalan one then, but just noticed that the flag list is on some translations and isn't on some others. @Roshanjossey

@Sergih28, I'll create more issues for clean up tasks like that. I'm just deferring this till Hacktoberfest.

That way, we can have more new comers contributing.

@Roshanjossey

We'll be creating separate issues to address changes to be done in different translations.

We'll have more issues created as a part of Hacktoberfest.

Closing this for the moment.
