Some query escaping issues

Running latest version for 9/26/2013 (just deployed)

when i specify path:string everything works fine, but if i add slash to remove expensive * from the beginning of the query path:\string* I will get no results.

it seems like \ might needs to be escaped somehow (how?) i'm creating ticket because this kind of stuff worked fine in ruby version of kibana.

Kibana passes the string directly to Elasticsearch. If this worked in Kibana 2 it was a bug in Kibana 2.
