As the Kibana now starts as a server it would be great to create a pid file which helps to manage automatic start/stop of it during boot/shutdown.

Agreed, it would be nice to have this as part of bin/kibana. @simianhacker thoughts?

Shouldn't be too much trouble... Would you like a configuration variable to set the location?

Yes, it would be handy to have a configuration variable to set pidfile location.
