Newlines in Markdown are rendered as <br>

@pedantic-git noted the following in the creation of #124:

Newlines in the middle of paragraphs are being converted to <br> even though the Markdown spec says they won't be.

Though other problems mentioned within #124 appear resolved as of the latest deploy, the issue with newlines continues. Newlines within Markdown source are converted to <br>, leading to strangely formatted paragraphs.

Why are you guys rolling your own here? If you're going to import README.md from github.com, you have to match their markdown.

Looks like this was an intentional attribute of the marked library we're using with github flavored markdown: markedjs/marked#51

We should look into alternative solutions for markdown though.
