Description

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Privacy&Security settings
  2. Click Request a bridge

Actual result:

Can't request captcha.

Expected result:

Captcha should be shown.

Reproduces how often:

Easily reproduced

Brave version (brave://version info)

Version/Channel Information:

  • Can you reproduce this issue with the current release?
  • Can you reproduce this issue with the beta channel?
  • Can you reproduce this issue with the nightly channel?

Other Additional Information:

  • Does the issue resolve itself when disabling Brave Shields?
  • Does the issue resolve itself when disabling Brave Rewards?
  • Is the issue reproducible on the latest version of Chrome?

The above requires 1.44.78 or higher for 1.44.x verification 👍

@brave/qa-team this is blocked on macOS, with a fix in-hand; I recommend we wait on Windows and Linux until #25293 lands and is verified, before circling back to this (to save retesting across multiple platforms).

  1. installed 1.44.94
  2. launched Brave
  3. opened brave://settings/privacy
  4. clicked to set Use Bridges to Enabled
  5. clicked on the Request a new bridge from torproject.org radio button
  6. clicked on Request a New Bridge...
  7. entered the CAPTCHA text
  8. clicked Submit
  9. confirmed the dialog dismissed
  10. confirmed the bridges' obfs4 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx configs appeared in the text area
  11. clicked on Apply changes
  12. clicked on the "hamburger menu" -> New Private Window with Tor
  13. loaded check.torproject.org
  14. additionally, invoked New Tor connection for this site and confirmed it reloaded with a new Tor IP address

Confirmed I was able to request and use a bridge from torproject.org
