Which issue does this PR close?

We (Coralogix) need this to implement a custom TableProvider returning the correct schema in presence of partitioning.

Rationale for this change

Allow to use the method outside of this module.

What changes are included in this PR?

Are these changes tested?

Are there any user-facing changes?
