On failure, use binary search to get error messages for individual plugins, and still collect docs for as many as possible of the successful plugins at once.

Would be even faster if the new jobs are queued up back into the executor, but I'm not sure whether that's possible.
Speeds the whole build up quite a lot on my machine.
