This was a frustrating one for me. I'm on fedora 40 and it seems like there was some decision from fedora 39 onwards where hardware encoding is not the default. I don't know enough about that but I was running into the issue where everything in my quest 2 looked incredibly blocky or Steam VR would restart suddenly. When I take my headset off I'm met with loads of ALVR error windows all saying effectively "VAAPI encoder failed".

Thankfully, I came across the following video (timestamped) which is where I found all this out.

I found a guide that's linked in the changes and after that the errors went away and I had a crisp stream running. Thought I would raise a PR so it's part of the wiki.
