Taught in previous years as BIOST 555: Statistical Methods for Spatial Epidemiology
Taught by Dr. Jon Wakefield at the University of Washington (Winter 2025)
This course describes methods for the analysis of spatially indexed data. Major topics to be covered include: visualization and mapping of spatial data, clustering, cluster detection, the modeling of neighborhood effects and spatial regression (including spatial lag and spatial error models, and geographically weighted regression). Both point-referenced and spatially aggregated data will be considered. Examples will be taken from the social sciences.
