  • Fixed an issue that caused the steering to not work properly when switching between mouse steering and keyboard steering
  • Fixed a potential issue that could have affected the steering if all rear wheels become detached from the vehicle
  • Slightly altered the logic of detecting manual countersteer input
  • Slightly altered the steering speed at high speeds
  • Updated the preview image of the UI app

v2.6

  • Added the ability to store and load presets in the UI app, including a few different factory presets to try
  • Removed the "Default" button from the UI app, as the default settings are now included as a factory preset
  • Added indicators to the UI app that show if a setting has unsaved changes
  • Slightly altered how the self-steer force is calculated, and made it a bit stronger at lower speeds
  • Moved the "Input authority" setting to the "Steering input" section in the UI app
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the default assists (such as the "Oversteer reduction assistant") to be active at the same time as Advanced Steering, in case they were configured to affect the "Wheel (direct)" filter type

You can read more about how presets work in the Configuration Guide.

v2.5

  • Changed the name from "Arcade Steering" to "Advanced Steering" to better reflect the mod's nature.
  • Changed the default settings.
  • Added a config migration feature which will adjust your settings if an update changes their behavior, in order to match the steering feel you've configured previously. This happens automatically the first time you play after an update.
  • Changed how the self-steer force is calculated. This also means that the "Response" setting needs a higher value than before, but the config migration feature will automatically adjust it after the update.
  • Reduced the effectiveness of the "Damping" setting in light of the self-steer force changes.
  • Decreased unwanted vibrations caused by the "Damping" setting.
  • Added a new setting called "Photo mode" which disables auto-centering for keyboard input when the vehicle is stationary.
  • Made errors and warning messages appear on the UI (upper left corner by default) instead of just the console. Try spawning an FPU Wydra for an example.
  • Changed how some values are printed to the console when the "Log data" option is enabled.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented vehicles from working if the config file could not be loaded.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the mod from working with a select few vehicles (such as the "1994 ETK K-Series" mod).
  • Fixed an issue that made some values invisible in the UI app after the 0.28 game update.

Due to the renaming of the mod, you'll have to restart the game after this update for things to work correctly. If you had the config app added to your UI, you'll also have to re-add that.

  • Fixed a minor issue that could cause a small stutter in the steering during direction changes
  • Slightly lowered the steering speed when the "Relative steering speed" option is enabled

v2.4

  • Changed the default settings
  • Added a new setting called "Countersteer limit offset" for adjusting the manual countersteer response
  • Small changes in the UI app
  • Slightly tweaked the behavior of the "Key (smooth)" input filter

The steering feel in this version is largely identical to v2.3.x, the main feature is the new "Countersteer limit offset" setting. Its default value is close to what the previous version used internally.

v2.3.1

  • Fixed some minor issues in the calculations that caused the steering angle to be slightly off in some cases

v2.3

16 Feb 18:04
Compare
Choose a tag to compare
  • Changed the default settings
  • Made manual countersteering more responsive and better suited for direction changes (such as while drifting)
  • Added a small amount of torque steer in FWD and AWD cars
  • Changed the "Key (smooth)" input filter so that it doesn't lower the "Steering speed" and "Input authority" settings as much as it did before
  • Fixed a few problems that emerged when spawning multiple vehicles

v2.2.1

  • Fixed an issue that prevented turning on the mod once it's been turned off in the UI app
  • Fixed an issue that caused AI traffic vehicles to behave incorrectly when the mod is enabled

v2.2

Choose a tag to compare
  • Added compatibility with BeamMP
  • Changed the default settings
  • Changed how the steering limit is calculated
  • Changed how the countersteer logic behaves
  • Changed the transition between hard and soft surface driving modes to be smoother
  • Fixed an issue where lowering the "Input authority" setting caused the steering limit to be incorrect in turns
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the steering to have sudden jitters
  • Fixed an issue that caused the mod to work incorrectly with some unusual vehicles (like the FPU Wydra)
  • Optimized a performance-critical part of the code to lower CPU use

This update changes the steering logic in major ways. If you customized your settings in the UI app before this update, I suggest re-visiting them.

v2.1.1

07 Nov 18:29
Compare
Choose a tag to compare
  • Changed the default settings
  • Made the "Input authority" setting (roughly) compensate for the lost steering limit when using lower values
  • Changed how the steering limit is calculated to maximize grip even better in a turn
  • Changed how both the steering limit and countersteer force work when driving off-road, better allowing for "rally-style" driving using the car's claw grip
  • Removed the "Relative angle" setting
  • Fixed an issue that made the assist abnormally aggressive on some vehicles (like some versions of the Cherrier FCV)
  • Fixed an issue that crashed the script when spawning an object that has no conventional inputs (like a Weight Pad) or when switching to walking mode
  • Fixed a small issue with the steering when rapidly changing directions
