ROM dump file (from game cartridge) should have different icon than optical disc dump file.
I used inode-chardevice.svg because it was the more appropriate (tied with inode-blockdevice.svg), but maybe a new icon should be created for ROM files (depicting a chip). Or maybe chardevice files should have a new icon :)

I was thinking of having unique icons for each rom filetype as well, My idea was to have the icons resemble the physical counterpart of each console's cartrige/cd. I had designed this icon for a Nintendo 64 rom cartridge for example.

Great idea! But sadly I can't help with the drawings :p
I think you should respect the folded paper sheet design (with the cartridge inside) otherwise.

Alternative idea for the folded paper design, use logos of the consoles and use their colors for them.

I created an issue that lists all of the console logos used. Should I go ahead and recolor the Sega CD Mimetype I created to blue?

There are Regional differences in a few of the console logos as well.

I think rigional differences i's not right. SEGA have single logo. And good looking on white backround

@varlesh Should I go ahead and make the mimetype the Sega logo, but recolor it to the other console logo colors? (Master System, Dreamcast, Genesis) We can use the S in the logo.

@varlesh Not just Sega, earlier Nintendo consoles went by different names in regions as well. Example: (US/EU: NES, JP: Famicom)

It doesn't apply to later Nintendo consoles starting with the Nintendo 64 as they used the same name in all regions.
