I'm not completely sure whether I had set it to Monochrome myself or it was like that by default. In that case, may I suggest to document this somewhere?

I added symlinks to work with any icon tray type. It works except the unlocked monochrome dark icon doesn't change and I don't know why. ✅ |

I didn't test it under Xfce. For now, any options of the tray icon type show a monochrome icon on GNOME Shell. |
Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. In fact, whenever the database is unlocked the tray icon I see is exactly like the app icon. The icon is monochrome when the database is locked. |

You don't actually need to wait for the next update. You could upgrade it with Papirus Installer. It safe, especially on deb-based systems. |
I tried with hardcode-tray and rebooting, but I always get the default tray icon.
