  • Distribution (version): Xubuntu 20.04.1
  • Desktop environment: Xfce
  • Installing method: PPA
  • App name (version): KeepassXC 2.6.1

I tried with hardcode-tray and rebooting, but I always get the default tray icon.

I added symlinks to work with any icon tray type. It works except the unlocked monochrome dark icon doesn't change and I don't know why.

keepassxc-locked
keepassxc-unlocked
keepassxc-monochrome-dark-locked
keepassxc-monochrome-dark
keepassxc-monochrome-light-locked
keepassxc-monochrome-light

So, just to be clear: the green background I get is due to the Colorful option, and it will be gone once I update to a new release and use the monochrome option, do I understand correnctly?

I didn't test it under Xfce. For now, any options of the tray icon type show a monochrome icon on GNOME Shell.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. In fact, whenever the database is unlocked the tray icon I see is exactly like the app icon. The icon is monochrome when the database is locked.

It should be monochrome after the update, at least with Monochrome (light) option:

Okay, I will wait for the next update then. Thank you!

You don't actually need to wait for the next update. You could upgrade it with Papirus Installer. It safe, especially on deb-based systems.
