  • Distribution (version): Fedora (31)
  • Desktop environment: KDE Plasma v5.16.5
  • Installing method: The fedora repository
  • App name (version): qTox (v1.16.3; AppImage)

The issue is twofold:

  1. The launcher icon in the Plasma task manager stays the same even after the Papirus icon theme has been applied (logouts and reboots do not help);
  2. When qTox is launched, the task-manager icon turns into the same tiny one that appears in the system tray (and behaves the same).

@Hasshu the Appimage attached to the latest release doesn't support desktop integration. But you could create a custom desktop-file with Icon=appimagekit-qtox entry inside.

Oh, I see. Looks like I should bug the qTox developers instead. Thanks!

@SmartFinn Could you explain in a bit more detail what exactly qTox is doing wrong?

@SmartFinn Even a link to some documentation could help.

@Hasshu sorry, I can't help with it. I never had packed an app into AppImage.

@SmartFinn Actually, I referred to the "desktop integration" part; does it mean that qTox should be looking for icons in certain places, but doesn't do that?

@Hasshu in short, AppRun file inside AppImage must be a script that implements the desktop integration, but AppRun inside qTox AppImage is a symlink to the binary file.
