Tiles and Content view behave in odd ways when this option is enabled. You may see one view upon setting the view and then a different view after closing and re-opening the folder. Content view did not exist in XP/Vista and the Tile mode was different than the modern Tiles view, so the odd results are expected.

**Note**: The Windows XP/Vista view mode does not apply to file open/save dialogs. If "Use General Items view for connected devices" is checked, you may see the XP/Vista view upon first touch of a folder in a file dialog, but the next visit to that folder, via a file dialog, will use the modern view.

**Note**: When Explorer is set to use this mode, it uses the system setting for the text color. That's not a problem if you are using light colors in Windows. However, if you switch to dark mode with this option enabled, you will get black text on a dark background. You can change the system text color, but be warned that change will be system-wide. There is no registry setting to change the text color exclusively for Explorer. Setting a system text color that can be seen on both light and dark backgrounds is one workaround. Another option is to install the program [QTTabBar](http://qttabbar.wikidot.com/) (select the "beta" download). QTTabBar will automatically change Explorer's text to white when dark mode is enabled.
