Other discrepancies #192

You have Jose Ayala (ID 101832) in the draw of Indianapolis in 1981 (tid 1981-419). This can’t be right, he was just 11 yo. It was another Jose Ayala. I don’t have DOB for him. ITF also think that older Ayala is from Chile (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/uscc-indianapolis/usa/1981/m-gp-usa-22a-1981/draws-and-results/). In 1982 Stuttgart Outdoor (1982-321) you have Jose Antonio Garcia (ID 102724) losing in R32 to Elter. But he was 6 yo. So another Gracia - Jose Garcia-Requena (ID 110788). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/stuttgart/321/1982/results. In Bristol 1981 (1981-313) you have Phil Dent beating Peter Kronk. While ATP has Paul Kronk (ID 100346) there: https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/bristol/313/1981/results. |
Conflicting info on players’ in Tokyo Outdoor in 1981. ATP has Takehiko Nishiwaki losing to Bob Weise. While the same draw in ITF version had Tokio Nishiwaki. Also ITF has DOB for him (now only showing an age). So I tend to stick with ITF version. In the same tournament you have Takanobu Fujii losing in R64 to Dupasquier. This is also how ATP has it. But ITF has Wataru Fujii here. According to ITF Takanobu Fujii was born in 1987 and could not play in 1981. In the same tournament you have Yasufumi Yamamoto losing to Fibak in R64. This is in disagreement with both ITF AND ATP. They both have Takao Yamamoto. Yasufumi Yamamoto was born in 1971 and being 10 yo could not play in 1981. You also have Yasufumi Yamamoto in R64 in Tokyo Outdoor in 1979. ATP again has Takao Yamamoto there. https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/tokyo/329/1979/results |
In Sofia 1981 you have Bob Blazekovic beating Christophe Bernelle in R32. But ATP has Ismail El Shafei beting Bernelle and Blazekovic beating Stefan Svensson (ID 100803). So you have 1 match in R32 missing. https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/sofia/364/1981/results. In Auckland in 1979 you have Scott Clark (ID 108214) losing to Dale Collings. But Clark was 2 yo. So ATP fixed that and now have Australian Simon Clarke there. He is also in your players list – ID 202523. Another case of discrepancy between ITF and ATP. You have LA 1979 draw according to ATP, where Tim Gullikson beat Alejandro Gattiker, while I have the same draw acc. to ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/los-angeles/usa/1979/m-gp-usa-36a-1979/draws-and-results/) where Carlos Gattiker lost to Tim Gullikson. |
In Madrid in 1979 you have Greg Amaya (ID 100692) losing to Peter McNamara in R32. ATP has George Amaya (ID 100202). And ITF as well - https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/madrid/esp/1979/m-gp-esp-01a-1979/draws-and-results/ The same is in South Orange in 1979 https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/south-orange/707/1979/results In Madrid in 1979 you (and ATP) have Pascal Portes beating Francisco Rodriguez from Paraguay (ID 102740). But this can’t be right, that Francisco Rodriguez was 3 yo. Another Francisco Rodriguez – from Spain was there. See ITF - https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/madrid/esp/1979/m-gp-esp-01a-1979/draws-and-results/ But he is not in your DB. |
In 1979 Sarasota you have “Richard Laver” – challenger level player, born in 1973. ATP has Rod Laver (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/sarasota/709/1978/results) “U Unknown” in your draw of Mexico City WCT in 1978 losing to Peter Pearson is Walter Redondo (ID 108494). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/mexico-city/7303/1978/results. “U Unknown” in your draw of Miami in 1978 losing to Charlie Pasarell is Tim Cooper (ID 202769). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/miami/681/1978/results |
“U Unknown” in your draw of Guadalajara in 1978 losing to Sherwood Stewart is A Marquez (not in your DB). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/guadalajara/280/1978/results In the Tulsa 1978 draw (1978-711) you have Stockton beating John Lloyd. ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/tulsa/711/1978/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/tulsa/usa/1978/m-gp-usa-22a-1978/draws-and-results/) have Bill Lloyd (ID 100180). In 1978 Berlin (1978-277) you have Balazs Taroczy beating Pavel Hutka in R32 and then losing to Francois Jauffret. Both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/berlin/9240/1978/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/berlin/frg/1978/m-gp-frg-03a-1978/draws-and-results/) have it the other way around – Hutka beating Taroczy. |
In Adelaide-2 in 1977 you have Scott Clark (ID 108214) losing to Tim Gullikson. But Clark was just born this year. So ATP fixed that and now has Australian Simon Clarke (ID 202523) there. https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/adelaide/2013/1977/results. In the same tournament you have Phil Dent beating Tim Gullikson in R64. In ATP draw Dent beat Tom Gullikson, while Tim won the whole event. In Louisville 1977 draw you have Dave Bohrnstedt losing to Cornejo in R64. Both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/louisville/663/1977/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/louisville/usa/1977/m-gp-usa-30a-1977/draws-and-results/) have Dick R. Bohrnstedt there. In Hamburg in 1977 you have Javier Soler beating Ismail El Shafei. Both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/hamburg/414/1977/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/hamburg/frg/1977/m-gp-frg-02a-1977/draws-and-results/) have it the other way around. Also affects R32 match with Manuel Orantes. |
In Bogota 1977 you have Andres Molina losing to Bruce Manson. Both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/bogota/359/1977/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/bogota/col/1977/m-gp-col-01a-1977/draws-and-results/) have Ivan Molina (ID 100118) Barcelona 1977 (tid 1977-425): you have R16 match Kodes-Bertolucci won by Bertolucci. Conflicting info between ATP and ITF regarding 1977 November Johannesburg. ITF has, Sherwood Stewart beating local John Muller, while ATP has another Muller – Jorg from Germany. https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/south-african-open/rsa/1977/m-gp-rsa-02a-1977/draws-and-results/, https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/johannesburg/426/1977/results. Your version corresponds to ATP. |
Buenos Aires-1 1977 (1977-722). You have “Jose Santiago” from Portugal losing to Paolo Bertolucci. Both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/buenos-aires/722/1977/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/buenos-aires/arg/1977/m-gp-arg-01a-1977/draws-and-results/) have another Santiago - Juan-Carlos. But he is not in your players list. “U Unknown” in your draw of Monterrey WCT in 1977 losing to Cliff Drysdale is Jesus Villela (not in your players list). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/monterrey/345/1977/results “U Unknown” in your draw of Springfield in 1977 winning against Machette and losing to Mottram is Mike Fishbach (ID 100358). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/springfield/682/1977/results |
In Richmond WCT 1977 you have Connors winning by walkover against Ross Case and then losing to Corrado Barazzutti. But ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/richmond/802/1977/results) and SteveG (https://www.stevegtennis.com/draw-results/atp/WCT_Richmond/1977/) have Connors giving walkover to Ross Case In Birmingham WCT 1977 you have Sandy Mayer beating Thomaz Koch. But ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/birmingham/1506/1977/results) and SteveG (https://www.stevegtennis.com/draw-results/atp/Birmingham,_AL/1977/) both have Kodes instead of Koch. “U Unknown” in your draw of Little Rock in 1977 winning against Mark Meyers and losing to Borg is Anand Amritraj (ID 100270). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/little-rock/660/1977/results |
per #192 also, '76 AO Scott -> Simon Clark(e) and added match time for 87 Hamburg F
All fixed up to this point. Leaving the thread open as I'm sure there will be more. Notes

one more correction from #192 that I missed in previous commit
In North Conway 1976 you have John Marks beating Terry Ryan. But ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/north-conway/705/1976/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/north-conway/usa/1976/m-gp-usa-32a-1976/draws-and-results/) both have Anthony Ryan (ID 110139) as losing opponent. In spring 1976 Madrid tournament (1976-309) there are 5 discrepancies. Both ATP and ITF have these results in agreement and they differ from yours: In Las Vegas 1976 in R32 Connors beat Thomaz Koch rather than Javier Roch. https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/las-vegas/usa/1976/m-gp-usa-28a-1976/draws-and-results/, https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/las-vegas/413/1976/results |
re: 1976 North Conway -- the only newspaper summary I could find, in the Boston Globe, says that Marks's first round opponent was Patrice Dominguez. The score matches what ATP and ITF have for Marks-Ryan. Hmmm. Dominguez seems unlikely, since he didn't play after getting injured at Roland Garros that year, and there are no other sightings of him in US newspapers in the second half of 1976. But ... what a weird mistake to make, if that's what it was. |
If ATP and ITF result matches - IMO it outweighs the newspaper. As we can see with John/Joel Ross - newspaper is also not 100% reliable. I created another issue on Github - for all such cases where we can't find definitive resolutions.

Ian Hewitt is showing as having a loss to Manuel Orantes in Hamburg 1972 in SF (but with a different ID: 204615 vs 110091) . According to ATP it was Bob Hewitt (100040) who lost to Orantes. Also 3 wins of Bob in this tournament are wrongly contributed to Ian in TennisAbstract database. Chris Lewis. Tennis Abstract contributes some matches of New Zealander Lewis (100474) to “British” Lewis (103993), who does not seem to exist, according to ATP/ITF. More precisely there is such player, but he is born in 1982 and couldn’t play in US Open 1984. All these matches (4 losses and 1 win) shall be contributed to New Zealander Lewis. |
In Salisbury (1976-355) you have Pancho Gonzales losing to Gene Meyer. ATP has Adolfo Gonzalez there (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/salisbury/355/1976/results). ITF also does not have Pancho, they have A. Gonzalez, only listing him as American rather than Mexican. https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/u-s-national-indoor-champs/usa/1976/m-gp-usa-10a-1976/draws-and-results/ There is a discrepancy in Rome 1976 on who did Sherwood Stewart beat. ATP has Francisco Mastelli (ARG), while ITF has Mastelli, G. (URU). But since TennisArchives also has Francisco, I’ll consider this a prevailing version. Though may go to the list of ambiguous cases. In Australian 1976 (1976-580) you have Geoff Brown (ID 109888) losing to Rosewall. But ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/australian-open/580/1976/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/australian-open/aus/1976/m-sl-aus-01a-1976/draws-and-results/) have Greg Braun (ID 107132) there. |
In San Francisco 1976 (1976-424) you have Trey Waltke beating Haroon Rahim and then losing in R32 to Andrew Pattison. But both ATP and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/los-angeles/usa/1976/m-gp-usa-39a-1976/draws-and-results/, https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/san-francisco/usa/1976/m-gp-usa-40a-1976/) have Rahim listed as a winner against Waltke. In Tehran 1976 both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/tehran/2011/1976/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/tehran/iri/1976/m-gp-iri-01a-1976/draws-and-results/) list Guillermo Vilas beating Frew McMillan (ID 100067). You have Kenneth McMillan. Also U Unknown losing to Fibak is Patricio Rodriguez (CHI) – ID 100032. |
Everything fixed to this point |
per #192 also consolidated two different jose edison mandarino IDs, at least in the results. (109856 -> 100054)
Nations Cup 1975 – Jamaica - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1975_Nations_Cup_(tennis). |
In Madrid 1975 (1975-2026) you (and ATP) have Georges Goven beating Stephen Taylor (IRL). But this Stephen Taylor could not play, because he was born in 1980 (https://www.atptour.com/en/players/stephen-taylor/t354/overview). So I have “Stephen Taylor-sr” there instead. Not in your DB. “U Unknown” in your draw of Fort Worth WCT in 1975 losing to Stan Smith is Lee Merry (ID 202646). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/little-rock/660/1977/results “U Unknown” in your draw of Valencia n 1975 losing to Eric Deblicker, is Wanaro N'Godrella (ID 100193). Though ATP calls him “Waharo Godrella”, it is not hard to assume with a high probability who that is. See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/valencia/659/1975/results. “U Unknown” in your draw of Fairfield in 1975 losing to Ion Tiriac, is Abbie Maynard (no ID). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/fairfield/2023/1975/results |
In Istanbul 1975 you (and ATP) have Mustafa Gencsoy losing R32 to Jun Kuki. The problem is that Mustafa was born in 1985 according to ATP themselves. I don’t remember where I imported my Istanbul results, but I have slightly different Mustafa there – Gengsoy. Could be just various spellings of the same name and they are father and son. In any case, the one born in 1985 could not play. Wimbledon 75. You have Raul Ramirez beating Shozo Shiraishi , while all 3 sources (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/wimbledon/540/1975/results), (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1975_Wimbledon_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men%27s_singles), (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/wimbledon/gbr/1975/m-sl-gbr-01a-1975/draws-and-results/) have Nicola Spear (ID 100083) as a losing opponent. In Bournemouth 1975 you have semifinal between Parun and Proisy reversed. Both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/bournemouth/347/1975/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/bournemouth/gbr/1975/m-gp-gbr-02a-1975/draws-and-results/) have Proisy beating Parun and then losing to Orantes in the final. |
“U Unknown” in your draw of Barcelona-3 in 1975 (tid 1975-425) beating Mike Estep and losing to Panatta, is Antonio Barranco (ID 202531). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/barcelona/425/1975/results “U Unknown” in your draw of Madrid-2 in 1975 (tid 1975-309) losing to Fillol, is Victor Pecci-sr (ID100395). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/madrid/309/1975/results. But you have this match already. just remove duplicate match with Unknown. In Melbourne Indoor (tid 1975-331) you have Brian Teacher beating Mike Cahill and losing to Brian Gottfried, but both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/melbourne/9342/1975/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/melbourne/aus/1975/m-gp-aus-01a-1975/draws-and-results/) have Chris Kachel (id 100382) instead of Teacher. |
per #192, plus a missing r1 loser in '74 Jackson.
1974 issues are fixed, with the exception of Surbiton, which I'll handle separately when I have more time |
Brisbane 1972 (1972-326) It can't be Peter Carter losing to Dick Crealy, because he was 9 yo. ATP has David Carter (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/brisbane/9341/1972/results) 1972 US Open. while both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/us-open/560/1972/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/us-open/usa/1972/m-sl-usa-01a-1972/draws-and-results/) have: |
In Hilversum 72 (tid 1972-317) Jan Hajek is an obvious typo (he was born in 1983), shall be Jan Hajer. Also ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/hilversum/317/1972/results) has much more complete draw. They have 58 matches vs 39 in your database. In Cincinnati 72 (1972-422) you have Jeff Simpson beating Jimmy Brown, while both ATP and ITF have William Brown. Jimmy was 7 yo. |
In Boston 72 (1972-417) you have Unknown in R16 losing to Okker and another Unknown beating Ray Ruffels in R32, which creates impression that it could be the same Unknown. But looking at available sources: ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/boston/417/1972/results) and TennisArchives (https://www.tennisarchives.com/edition/?v=19880) we can see that in R16 Okker beat Bob Carmichael, while you have Okker- Carmichael in R32. Before that Carmichael beat Ruffels in R32 and in R32 Okker beat Bob Maud. In Wimbledon 72 you have John McDonald beating Jaime Pinto-Bravo and then losing in R64 to Tanner. But both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/wimbledon/540/1972/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/wimbledon/gbr/1972/m-sl-gbr-01a-1972/draws-and-results/) have Allan McDonald rather than John. |
Roland Garros 72. Again there was R256 here, which you didn't include. Other than that: Both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/roland-garros/520/1972/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/french-open/fra/1972/m-sl-fra-01a-1972/draws-and-results/) In Rome 72 (1972-416) you have John Paish beating Franco Bartoni, while both ATP(https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/rome/416/1972/results) and ITF(https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/rome/ita/1972/m-gp-ita-01a-1972/draws-and-results/) have Manlio Bartoni (id 110380) |
Johannesburg 72 (1972-426). Results are given only trhrough R32. ATP(https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/johannesburg/426/1972/results) has R64 & R128 plus 3-4th place match. In R32 you have Bob Hewitt beating Jack Kruger, ITF has "J Kruger", while ATP has Ruan Kruger (id 209430) |
Omaha 72 (1972-2036). You have Gimeno passing Jimmy Brown, and the score says "DEF". ITF has only a final here. ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/omaha/2036/1972/results) has William Brown as a losing opponent by walkover. This concludes 1972 |
“U Unknown” in Buenos Aires 71 (tid 1971-303) that lost in R32 to Vilas by w/o, is Julio Van Kerckhoven (ID 110802). https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/buenos-aires/303/1971/results In Bologna WCT you have Ismail El Shafei getting by Nastase in R32 by w/o. But ITF(https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/wct-bologna/ita/1971/m-gp-ita-05a-1971/draws-and-results/) does not have Nastase in the draw at all, while ATP(https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/bologna/312/1971/results) has him giving walkover to Maud in R64 (you have it reversed). They both have El Shafei beating Maud in R32. U Unknown, who lost to Stilwell is Giordano Maioli (id 110109) |
per #192 also player correction for a 2006 DC tie
all 1973 corrections made; will resume with 1972 brisbane |
all 1972 corrections made. Haven't added pre-R128 rounds for 1972 US Open or Roland Garros -- I see Tennis Archives has a full qualifying draw for RG. I have a separate note to get to those eventually. |
“U Unknown” in Barcelona WCT 71 (tid 1971-425) that lost in R64 to Okker, is Jose Maria Gisbert (ID 110327). https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/barcelona/425/1971/results In US Open 71 (1971-560) you have Jim Osborne beating Orantes in R16 before losing in QF to Ashe. It is not supported neither by ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/us-open/560/1971/results) nor by ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/us-open/usa/1971/m-sl-usa-01a-1971/draws-and-results/). They have Orantes winning in R16. “U Unknown” in Hilversum 71 (tid 1971-317) that lost in R32 to Francois Jauffret, is Toshiro Sakai (ID 100149). https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/hilversum/317/1971/results |

In Roland Garros 71 you have Brian Fairlie beating Jan Kukal, and Peter Pokorny beating Bob Giltinan, in R128. But both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/roland-garros/520/1971/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/french-open/fra/1971/m-sl-fra-01a-1971/draws-and-results/) have the following results: In Hamburg 71 (tid 1971-414) you have Jiri Hrebec beating Gustavo Guerrero (ARG), while both ATP(https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/hamburg/414/1971/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/hamburg/frg/1971/m-gp-frg-01a-1971/draws-and-results/) have Jose Guerrero (id 107436) as a losing opponent. “U Unknown” in Paris 71 (1971-2010) that lost to Barry Phillips-Moore in R32, is Carl-Edvard Hedelund (id 110917). In Auckland 71 (1971-301) you have Brian Fairlie beating wrong John Ross. Shall be kiwi John Ross, not American, the latter was born in 1964 and was too young. https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/auckland/301/1971/results |
In Barcelona 1970 (1970-425) U Unknown, who lost to Laver, is Emilio Martinez (id 117248), In Berkeley 70 (1970-424) you have Thomaz Koch beating James Parker, while both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/berkeley/424/1970/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/berkeley/usa/1970/m-gp-usa-18a-1970/draws-and-results/) have Larry Parker. John Zweig (ID 110325). Both ATP and ITF spell him as Zwieg: |
There is a bit of mix-up with Bohrnstedts in Merion 1970 (1970-2030). ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/haverford/2030/1970/results) has Dick Crealy beating Dick R Bohrnstedt. So does ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/merion/usa/1970/m-gp-usa-14a-1970/draws-and-results/). But your draw as well as mine have Dave Bohrnstedt here as a losing opponent. In Hamburg 70 (1970-414) U Unknown, who beat Byron Bertram and lost to Pilic, is Adolf Kreinberg (id 112974). See https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/hamburg/414/1970/results In Cincinnati 70 (1970-422) you have Ray Ruffels beating Gary Rose in R64, while both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/cincinnati/422/1970/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/cincinnati/usa/1970/m-gp-usa-10a-1970/draws-and-results/) have Mervyn Rose rather than Gary. |
J Bryant (RSA) vs John Bryant (USA). I’m not suggesting that those are the same player. But in 1970 edition of Nottingham you have J Bryant losing to Jaime Pinto Bravo, while I have John Bryant here. This tournament is in ATP archive only through QF and ITF does not have it. I took the data from TennisArchives (https://www.tennisarchives.com/edition/?v=17376) . What was your source of data for this tournament? If ATP then it looks odd that they removed earlier rounds. From the same Nottingham tournament: you have J Jetson, losing to Ross Case in R32. In my source it was “Johan Jepson”. Given that my source has a full name rather than initial, I’m inclined to believe it more… Also TA have Ross Case beating "L. Park" in R64, while you have Larry Parker (which looks more legit). In Wimbledon 70 (1970-06-22) you have Nikki Spear beating Mohammad Hosein Akbari. Both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/wimbledon/540/1970/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/wimbledon/gbr/1970/m-sl-gbr-01a-1970/draws-and-results/) have another Akbari - Taghi. |
In Hilversum 70 (1970-317): There is a duplicate, I already mentioned - Norm/Norman Schellenger (ID 100716/ 202982). I was positive that this was a duplicate, because DOB was different exactly by one year 1961-01-12 vs 1962-01-12. But in my database I also have Norman D. Schellenger born in 1931 (probably the father). Younger Schellenger could not play in Charlotte 1970, since he was 8/9 yo. Therefore it has to be the father. ATP has only the name w/o DOB. In Monte Carlo 70 (1970-410): |
Buenos Aires 69 results (tid 1969-303) are much more complete on ATP site - https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/buenos-aires/303/1969/results In Cincinnati 1969 (tid 1969-422) U Unknown, who beat Michael Sprenglemeyer and lost to Charlie Pasarell in R64 is Juan Arredondo (id 117307). https://www.atptour.com/en/players/terry-bennett/b177/overview. In Washington 69 (1969-418) You (and ATP) have Luis Alberto Ayala beating Donald Dell in R64. Then ATP, being consistent have Luis Alberto Ayala losing to Koch in R32. You, on the other hand have Luis Ayala in R32. Probably R64 was imported from the other source than the rest of the draw. The problem with Luis Alberto is that he was 10 yo. Correct player is Luis Ayala (DOB 1932-09-18). |
In Roland Garros 69 you have Vladimir Zednik beating Anton Ivanov (UZB). Not only the country of Uzbekistan did not exist yet, but also Anton was born in 1970. Other sources have Aleksandr Ivanov (id 117331), Also you have Chiradip Mukerjea giving w/o to Roche. ATP(https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/roland-garros/520/1969/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/french-open/fra/1969/m-sl-fra-01a-1969/draws-and-results/) have Jaidip Mukerjea. Ashley Hewitt is out of place in 1969 Bournemouth, he was born in 1992. It was Bob Hewitt. https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/bournemouth/3938/1969/results The same is in Durban 1969 - https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/durban/260/1969/results |
In Durban 69 you have William Freer beating Douglas Irvine in R32 and then losing to Carmichael, ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/durban/260/1969/results In Auckland 69 (1969-301) you have Ray Moore beating Dan Cassidy. ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/players/dan-cassidy/ch99/player-activity?year=all) does as well at the first glance. But looking at the results and the link - it is not the same Dan Cassidy that played since 1984 and later (that one has DOB in 1961). - https://www.atptour.com/en/players/dan-cassidy/c022/overview |
Davis Cup G2 R1: PUR vs BAH (2004-D054). Ricardo Gonzalez-Diaz beat H'Cone Thompson rather than Sergei Cuptov (https://www.daviscup.com/en/draws-results/tie.aspx?id=M-DC-2004-G2-AM-M-BAH-PUR-01) In US Open 68 you have Tom Edlefsen beating Billy Knight in R128. Both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/us-open/560/1968/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/us-open/usa/1968/m-sl-usa-01a-1968/draws-and-results/) have Dick Knight (id 109988) there. Also you have Loyo-Mayo beating Jeff Robbins, while both sources have Frank Robbins (id 100212) In the Dublin 68 draw Louis Pretorius is obviously a mistake, taken from ATP draw. He was born in 1993. Correct player is Quentin Pretorius (id 202898), see https://www.tennisarchives.com/edition/?v=3831 |
In Barcelona 68 (tid 1968-425) you (and ATP) have Gustavo Guerrero (ARG) losing to Buding. But Gustavo was born in 1959 and was too young. Local Jose Guerrero (id 107436) shall be there. See https://www.tennisarchives.com/edition/?v=1582 In Roland Garros 68 you have Tom Christensen passing by Bungert by w/o and losing in R64 to Terry Ryan, while both ATP (https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/roland-garros/520/1968/results) and ITF (https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/french-open/fra/1968/m-sl-fra-01a-1968/draws-and-results/) have local player Yves Christiaen instead. TA also has Yves Christiaen. Also all 3 sources have Bronislaw Lewandowski losing to Allan Stone, where you have Michal Lewandowski, In Philadelphia 68 (tid 1968-401): This concludes the validation of Main Tour 1968-2021 non-Davis Cup tournaments basing on Tournament-Round-Winner-Loser composite key. |
Some issues may pop-up while syncing the players in the challengers results: |
Ola Jonsson (id 118723) born in 1978 is unlikely to play Eger CH in 1989 being 11yo. Most likely it was another Ola Jonsson (id 101302) - born in 1966 |
Hartford World Cup 1972 on TennisArchives site (https://www.tennisarchives.com/edition/?v=19493) has 7 matches vs 5 matches on ATP site. |
In Cincinnati 1983 you have Pat Cash losing to Leach in R64. ATP and ITF both have Cash winning this match and losing in the next round to Curren. https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/cincinnati/usa/1983/m-gp-usa-23a-1983/draws-and-results/,
In Geneva in 1983 (1983-322) you have John Brown (ID 109803) losing to Roberto Vizcaino in R16 (and winning R32). ATP has Jimmy Brown (ID 101131). https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/geneva/322/1983/results
You have Velasco-jr (ID 102312) winning R128 at 1982 Roland Garros and losing to Vilas in R64. This can’t be right, because he was 8 yo. Obviously it was Velasco-sr (ID 109771). ATP agrees https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/roland-garros/520/1982/results.
