  1. I have an existing full-node setup
  2. Switching bitcoind to mode=light, syncing and using it
  3. Switching bitcoind to external

status and everything else (docker inspect too) are suggesting lnd is using my external node, BUT it's actually still running neutrino because of a highly messed up lnd.conf:

rpclisten=0.0.0.0:10009
restlisten=0.0.0.0:8080
max-cltv-expiry=5000

[Bitcoin]
bitcoin.active=1
bitcoin.node=neutrino

[neutrino]
neutrino.addpeer=bitcoin.michael1011.at:18333
neutrino.addpeer=btc.kilrau.com:18333

[routing]
routing.assumechanvalid=1

[Bitcoind]
bitcoind.rpchost=10.0.2.1
bitcoind.rpcuser=xu
bitcoind.rpcpass=xu
bitcoind.zmqpubrawblock=tcp://10.0.2.1:38332
bitcoind.zmqpubrawtx=tcp://10.0.2.1:38333

[tor]
tor.active=1
tor.socks=9050
tor.streamisolation=1

Solution: do not use lnd.conf, but cli parameters (#405)
