Thermite

Thermite is a Metallurgy fuel made of:

• Potash
• Sulfur
• Iron Dust

Like coal the amount of items that this fuel smelts is 8 although it can be used in Metallurgy 4: Reforged machines for double the speed/efficiency

Role in Tinkers' Construct

This dust is very important to smelt high-tier Metallurgy ores in Tinkers' constructs smeltery.

While trying to melt high-tier ores you might come across this situation:

You'll need a better fuel (Fluid Thermite) to melt those ores, here are the steps to produce it:

1. Craft Thermite Dust
2. Melt Thermite Dust in Tinkers' Constructs Smeltery
3. Cast Molten Thermite into a bucket or take it from a Seared Drain
4. Replace Fluid Lava with Molten Thermite Note: After replacing Lava with Thermite in the Smeltery Fuel Tank you might need to break and replace the Smeltery Controller for it to register the new fluid correctly, in case you break the Controller remember to empty the Smeltery completely otherwise you'll lose all the materials in it. (Alternatively you can build 2 separate smelteries, one for each fuel, or just use Thermite forever :P)
