This Tutorial should teach you the basic principles of visualization and visual data analysis by using Tableau. Visualization allows us to convey information through visual representations. Insight and Analysis, Communication and Exploration are goals which can be reached by creating (interactive) visualizations. In this tutorial, we use Tableau as visualization tool. Tableau provides an easy to use visualization interface which allows people from different backgrounds to quickly create meaningful visualizations without programming skills or a degree in computer science (and it is free for students). We hope you are going to enjoy the tutorial and learn some useful skills!
This tutorial is used at the University of Vienna as teaching material for the Visualisation and Visual Data Analysis and Seminar in Statistics for Master Studies courses. Parts of it were used in the Deep Learning and Visual Data Analysis and Data Science summer school.
Created by Raphael Sahann and Christoph Kralj doing their PhD's at the Visualization and Data Analysis Research Group.
