We upgraded to the v4 version a year ago when it seemed like it would be the way to to go for Rails5 support.
It's been over a year now since v4 has had any new release, while the v3 has had regular updates and even landed Rails5 support. There doesn't seem to be a difference in features, so is v4 still relevant ?

I still believe that the design of v4 is superior to that of v3, but unfortunately I cannot say when (or if) I will have time to continue development of the v4 branch.
Contributions are always welcome. If someone would like to backport (or rather forward-port) the changes from the v3 branch to the v4 branch, that would be awesome.
We did use v4.0.0.beta9 in production for over year, along with Rails5 (which it does support apparently) since around February.
We're really only using the "slave" feature through, and never sharding 🤷♂.
