Allow multiple versions of documentation #208
Comments
I'm interested in Yii versioning. Kapeli says that there are means for that in the Dash app. Cannot check, though. |
I've been looking into this as well. There is version information in the xml metadata in docset. |
What the Drupal did was a "Drupal_7" docset and "Drupal_8" docset, for the moment is the only way to separate it. Right? |
I'm actually interested in multiple versions of PostgreSQL. When reading the docs online there are links at the top of the page to easily switch between versions. This is useful when you want to see how a feature changed between versions and it's very likely to stumble upon older servers in the wild. |
I would also love this feature but I don't know C or C++. If you ever find the time to add this feature it will be really useful and I will buy you a coffee (send a small donation). |
No news on this feature? I’m just curious. 🙂 |
I often work with multiple versions of products in different environments, it would be very nice to be able to install multiple versions of the docs as well. |
waiting for this feature |
I am interested in this feature and have started poking around the code to think about an implementation. Are the old versions hosted on go.zealdocs.org? I see where the latest version comes from but I'm not sure what path, if any, should be used to pull an older version listed in the metadata. Any advice would be appreciated. |
Except with workarounds like for Java (which provides multiple packages for SE6, SE7 etc) there is currently no mechanism to provide versioned DocSets.
Given that in many frameworks, having multiple versions would be necessary (e.g. with Spring 3.x + 4.x, iOS 7.0, 7.1, 8.0 etc.) to switch when you're developing for different apps this would be a very exciting feature to have.
Would this be possible and in the interest of the developers,
and if yes, who of the users would be interested in this as well?
Thanks!
