Open PoE Surveillance Camera Collaboration

There is much interest among ip camera surveillance installers and admins to have high-end hardware that has customizable or open source firmware (just explore the ipcamtalk forums and reddit). I am looking for people to collaborate on a project to design a PoE camera with a large sensor 1/1.2" or 1". Will's boards seem a reasonable place to start.

The thingino and openipc projects are helpful, but it is terribly hard to find good hardware that are not locked down to the hilt, not to mention most are "blood cameras." It seems it is time to create this hardware.
