We should restore the old README boilerplate which was triaged and supported by the docs team back in the days, but I also think there where changes made to the site, which broke some markdown features (rendering) in general

@evilebottnawi It used to work before? Issue is that marked (MD parser used by the website) doesn't support footnotes links.

Good news, this is fixed in the website version that we hope we would deploy soon.

@montogeek In general if you see any markdown rendering issue please open an issue here, so we can fix it :). Where is the markdown processing of the site currently located in the source ? So I can also track that myself to some point aswell 😛
