Hello everyone,

While looking at this week-end w3champions finals on Twitch, I noticed "Rust" as a language you were looking for a developer for.

During the pandemics, I happened to write (just as a hobby) a w3 replay parser in Rust: https://github.com/aesteve/w3rs

I've noticed there's a crate for parsing already defined here. Maybe because FLO need to work with "partial" files (network packet actually, a streaming parser) and not a finished one.

But I just wanted to now if w3rs would be something you'd be interested in?

It was mainly an excuse for getting to know nom (and the world behind parser-combiners) at the time, but if you think it could be of any interest for you, just ping me.

I think w3rs is much better than flo-w3reply in terms of functional completeness. I see that it can already recognize units and abilities in the game. I think it's perfect for parsing replay files that have already been archived. For example, generate some kind of data displayed on a w3c website.
But I don't think we'll use it for this repo for now, because the current need of flo for replay files is limited to generating replay files, and very limited real-time action stream processing (APM calculation).
If you're interested in integrating w3rs into W3champions, feel free to come join us on discord and I think we can do some great stuff together!

Note: not sure it's "much better" I just gave it a try against newer replays (last time I checked was in 2020) and not sure what happened to the replay file format since then, but the metadata parsing is completely broken. It's returning 24 players for every game, considers them to be FFA.
I'm trying to investigate a lot into the issue, but have no idea what has been changed (and it doesn't seem to be documented anywhere).
