database reader plugin load error

Hi,

I am using VisIt version 3.0.0 When I try to use the OpenDatabase command,
I receive the following error:

Error opening plugin file:
/nasa/visit/sles12/3.0.0/3.0.0/linux-x86_64/plugins/databases/libMIDXDatabase.so
(/nasa/visit/sles12/3.0.0/3.0.0/linux-x86_64/plugins/databases/libMIDXDatabase.so:
undefined symbol: _ZN3MPI2Op4InitEPFvPKvPviRKNS_8DatatypeEEb)

Despite this error, VisIt will render an image for h5 databases. Though,
trying to load Point3D databases will always result in an error and no
image. The exact line that we believe is causing the error is this:

OpenDatabase(database,0,'CarpetHDF5_2.1')

where the database variable refers to some h5 database. What plugin is
this, what does it do, and what module may I need to load remove this error?

Hello Michael,

When you mention using OpenDatabase command, I assume you are using VisIt?s python CLI?

You should be able to ignore the undefined symbol error regarding IDX database, unless you need to
open files of that type.

As for Point3D files, have tried telling Visit to open using the Point3D reader?
In the cli, this would look like this:
OpenDatabase(?/path/to/p3dfile?, 0,?Point3D_1.0?)

The 0 is for the time index.  Has no meaning for single-time-state data.

In addition, if the IDX plugin error is problematic for other reasons, you can disable that plugin
specifically and save settings...

I tried opening the Point3D files with the Point3D reader specified and it
worked! I am not using IDX databases so I will just ignore the other error.
