Input Type Search Clear Button Gone #5624
Comments
I confirm this. |
Styling a search field is damned near impossible with WebKit as Chris Coyier mentions. We don't support that because we cannot match it to our other fields. You can remove it from the core where we reset some styles, but otherwise we won't be able to help much. |
@mdo can you please provide specifics on where this is reset in bootstrap? I can't seem to find it. |
@jlennox I'm not sure if you're new to Bootstrap or not, but Bootstrap does a lot of global things, take a look at the CSS. It would be really hard to use Bootstrap just in a desired area without a good amount of modifications. |
When an input element is created of type "search", the clear button that is created by the browser does not display. This may be intentional, but I would like it for my project. Does anyone know how to get it back?
Here is a very simple jsFiddle outlining the problem:
http://jsfiddle.net/KqWHy/
(remove the bootstrap.css resource to see how your browser normally renders a "search" input)
I used Chrome 22.0.1229.94 m
I tried resetting the -webkit-appearance, but that didn't work:
Chris Coyier had some info on the issue, but I couldn't get his methods to work in my project: http://css-tricks.com/almanac/properties/a/appearance/
This also relates to: #349, but was going to be looked at later.
Any help would be great. Thanks for a great project.
