I tried this and it worked very well on my laptop.
When I then tried to pair my mouse back to the original receiver on my desktop I couldn't get it working. The script found the right hidraw device, but nothing happened.
I tried running it manually with the same result.
I then tried to connect the reciever to a front port on my case (it was connect to the hub on my monitor at first). Still no joy.
I then tried connecting to a port directly on the motherboard, this worked!
So, if it doesn't seem to work and your reciever is connected to a hub, try a motheboard port instead.
