I'd like access to environment variables in gitsh, for example, when I want to copy a file from another repo:

!cp $HOME/src/some-repo/some-file ./
gitsh: Variable 'HOME' is not set

Since #321 covers ~, I'm updating this issue to focus on just environment variables.
