deleteLeaf/deleteSubtree irrelevant. insertSubtree kind of irrelevant? why use? insertLeaf notionally kind of has to be there, but... "infinitely" expensive because node is a pointer. so just left with rename/move/copy, and rename not that interesting. sort of, but... to be fair, algorithm doesn't do anything fancy re insert/deleteLeaf either. interesting part is this proximity indexing scheme
