Visible whitespaces in the code editor

At first, thank you for your great work on Spyderlib.

Would it be possible to show whitespaces in the code editor? Their color could be specified in the syntax coloring dialog. This feature is supported e.g. in Eclipse. I think that it would be extremely usefull in Python where indentation really matters.
