Spyder Version: 2.2.0
Python Version: 2.7.5
Qt Version: 4.8.4, PyQt4 (API v2) 4.9.6 on Windows

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1.Installed pythonxy 2.7.5 with ipython 0.13.2 2. 3. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? iPython interpreter is not seen in Spyder. Only default python interpreter can be seen

Please provide any additional information below

Yes, you are totally right. To use IPython you need to go to

Interpreters > Open an IPython console

Then you should see a new console opened for you. We plan to fix (very unintuitive) issue in our 2.3 version.

Thanks for reporting and for your interest in Spyder.

I'm using Spyder 2.3 from WinPython and I think I have the same issue, except all I see under interpreters is "Open a Python interpreter", no IPython console (!).

When I try to set the Python interpreter executable path to the Qt Console included in WinPython and Open a new interpreter, all I get is a non-responding Console window (see attached screenshots).

Python 3.3.2 64bits, Qt 4.8.4, PyQt4 (API v2) 4.9.6 on Windows.

Thank you!

The problem is Spyder 2.3dev is only compatible with the just released 1.0 version of IPython, and WinPython is providing 0.13.2 for now.

I hope they update soon their version so that people can use IPython again.

Isn't this issue fixed, as winpython3.3.2.3 works well now with Ipython 1.0 to 2.0.0 dev ?

This is fixed now. Spyder works for all IPython greater than 0.13
