Hi there!

I'm the creator and main developer of TRSE (Turbo Rascal Syntax Error, www.turborascal.com), a modern and convenient open source IDE / compiler / resource manager for developing games and demos for (most) 8/16 bit computer systems. Think C64, VIC-20, Apple II, Amiga, Atari, NES, Gameboy etc.

Here's a promo video I made for the latest version of TRSE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CtHHOtgvKU
Here's a NYE demo for the C64 that was made with TRSE : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0G5IxSBQl4
Here's another older promo video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT-8cyqTbnE

I have a background from theoretical astrophysics, and completed my PhD in computational cosmology at the University of Oslo in 2010. For several years I tried working for the industry, but failed at every attempt. I'm just not cut out for the whole customer/sales/wearing a suit/meetings/money lifestyle.

In 2018 I re-discovered my passion for 8-bit programming, and ended up developing TRSE. At first, I simply wanted to create a C64 game - but the project soon escalated, and today TRSE has several thousand downloads an a couple of hundred active users.

Here is a list of releases that were all created with TRSE : https://lemonspawn.com/gallery_/

I've probably invested several thousands of hours into TRSE, and I'm usually spending 8-10 hours per day on development, bug fixing, chatting with the community, content creation etc. I'm constantly adding support for new computer systems, and then improving the libraries for these. I also use TRSE to create demos for all these wonderful systems.

My goal would be to retire early from my regular job and dedicate my life to molding TRSE into the main go-to development tool for 8/16-bit systems. While I am quite the prudent chap, the way is long - so any help from you would be thoroughly appreciated!

@leuat

Reaching this goal will make it possible for me to retire from my day job and devote 100% of my time to developing TRSE. Hopefully.

Yeah. Look here. I really appreciate this, but I can't really promise to make it up to you. My motivation for working on TRSE stems from the community, my personal interest, the desire to create demos and games for obsolete computers - and to inspire other people to get started creating their own things with TRSE.

I'm not doing this for money. Sometimes I crash and play computer games for a week. Other times I'm a coding machine. That's how I roll.

What does not work for me - and never will - is having a boss. I collaborate. I delegate. I sometimes do as I'm told. But you can never pay me to directly control the direction that TRSE is going. Kind words will work so much better!

that being said - you're a complete and utter badass
