Does consul-cookbook actually require ark 0.8.0 or greater, or will an older version suffice?

What version were you trying to peg it at? All of my testing was done on that version.

0.4 in my case; I'm looking at updating and it looks pretty simple, but that isn't always the case and if the cookbook use of it is very 'mainline' then a more lenient restriction might be in order.

We can probably remove the version dependency. I took a look last night and it seemed to always have the LWRP, which is all we need, do you want to submit a PR? I am going to add ChefSpec tests around this.
